Chapter 1 - prologue

It was a warm, sunny day in Baywood. Princess Violet was celebrating her 20th birthday today. The town was buzzing with life as people from across the nation gathered in Baywood to celebrate this special day together. The city was full of exciting events like jousting tournaments and eating contests. The townsfolk happily participated in several of the events during the day while they waited for the big feast which would begin at night.

The princess was in her chamber getting ready for this big day. She was a beautiful girl, standing at about 5'5. She had a slim body with long golden hair and soft, beige, skin. Her eyes were a golden brown that looked like a sea of honey when exposed to light. She had a small brown birthmark on her right cheek and dimples. She truly was a marvel, leaving people in aw when they saw her beauty.

With her was her favourite servant, Julia, a makeup artist, and a hair dresser. Throughout the day, she sat comfortably in her chair as the others worked around the clock to make sure Violet looked gorgeous for the big event. While her hair and makeup were being done, Violet requested that Julia bring her something sweet to munch on. "As you wish" said Julia while bowing slightly before heading off to gather some fine desserts for the royal princess.

A few minutes went by before Julia returned with a large tray of assorted sweets. On the tray were Portuguese custard tarts, macaroons, crème brulees, French butter cakes, and rainbow cookies. "Which would you like to try first, your royal highness?" said Julia as she displayed the large tray of desserts to the princess. Violet eyed the tray of goodies for a minute. Everything looked so good! "Feed me whatever you like Julia!" she said as she gently opened her mouth, awaiting her first snack. "Very well" said Julia as she popped a bite size rainbow cookie into her mouth. Violet moaned quietly as she munched on her snack. After she finished she opened her mouth once again, waiting for another one. Julia plopped a custard tard into her mouth this time and Violet felt like she was in heaven. "Is this what it is like to be 20?" she thought to herself while opening her mouth for a third time. Before this birthday, Violet's eating habits were largely restricted to 3 sweets a week. She had to stay on a very strict diet, however, now that she had turned 20, this restriction was removed and she was able to eat whatever she desired.

A few hours had past and Violet was all prepared for the feast at night. She had finished most of the sweets, leaving only a cookie and a butter cake behind. Julia happily fed her while Violet sat peacefully and blissfully as the palace workers did her hair and makeup. She wore a light blue dress made from silk in the Arabian peninsula with a corset underneath. She wore a gold necklace with diamond earrings. Her hair was carefully and skillfully braided giving her a very smooth and refined look.

"My, that was exhausting" said the princess and she looked over herself in the mirror. "Julia, fetch me my tea set!". Julia did as she asked and brought her tea set made from Chinese porcelain. She put one sugar cube in her tea and drank it elegantly while Julia and the other servants stood by the door, awaiting for further instructions. "Ah, much better" she said as she took the first sip from her tea.
