Chapter 13 - continued...

Natalie placed her clipboard under one arm and smiled. One slim hand reaching up and behind her head to release her hair bun. Her long locks fell down her sides and back in a brown deluge. A distinct look of pleasure growing in her green eyes as she crossed the room. All legs and high heels. The clicking of which seemed to hang in the air to mingle with the sounds of Caroline’s steady chewing. She stopped in front of Caroline, staring at her over oval rims of tortoise shell. She waited until Caroline swallowed before she spoke, her words coming in hushed spurts.

“One chocolate doughnut. 195 calories.” She wrote something on the clipboard. “Good. We’ve got to start somewhere. I’m sure you’ve already read the note Jenny left you.” Natalie’s eyes glanced to the desk and back. “Yes. Good. I’m Natalie. One of the firm’s accountants. I’ve been here long since before you started and I’ll probably be here long after you squeeze through our front door for the last time. I’m going to be as blunt with you as possible Caroline. Jenny has asked me to keep a complete calorie count of everything you slide past your lips today. I’ve also been given a quota I have to meet in order to get the other half of my promised pay.”

“Quota?” Caroline began to sweat. This wasn’t what she expected. A few boxes of candy or maybe a dinner… or two, but a chaperon? She suddenly felt anxious. Nerves mixed with her self conscious fears. She wiped her hands and ran over her cushioned middle.

“Yes, quota. I’ve been instructed NOT to tell you the exact number. It’s not important right now, but I don’t intend to waste my time and NOT earn what is entitled to me. Do you understand?

Caroline nods. She’s warm. She can feel the tightness of her suit, the straining seams and buttons. She hasn’t even started and she’s in serious trouble.

“Good. I’m glad we got that out of the way. I’ve got eight hours with you…well…nine if you count lunch.” Natalie smiles over her clipboard. “So we best get started. I’ve broken everything down to the exact number of calories I need to get in you each hour in order to make my quota by the end of the day.”

Natalie’s left hand moved even as she spoke. Another doughnut plucked from the box and pushed to Caroline’s waiting lips. It sat there, pressed against her lips. The chocolate smearing and teasing her with its smell right under her nose.

“Go on. I know you are dying too. Don’t pretend like you are actually resistant to this. I’m practically an angel from Heaven for you.” Caroline opens her mouth. “I’m going to give you exactly what you want, everything you’ve been craving but haven’t had a chance to dig into yet.” Natalie slowly shoves the entire doughnut forward and into Caroline’s waiting mouth. Her cheeks bulge outward and she takes it all in. “I’m going to send you home so gorged and bloated she’s going to be wondering how you don’t bust…”

Natalie’s crimson lips gently fold upward into a cruel smile.
