Chapter 1
Gets "interesting" around chapter 4 if you don't want to read the build-up. Also my first story, be nice =DIt started with a simple assignment. I’m a third year comp sci student, and classes are starting to get difficult, so I figured I should go to my professor’s posted office hours for a little extra help. It's not a particularly interesting class, one of the ones I felt like I didn’t need for any reason other than to fill a requirement, but getting to know professors has always tended to give me slightly better grades than I really deserved so why not take the extra time.
I knocked on her door right as 3:15 rolled around, but no one answered. Must be coming from a class or something. I sat on a bench across from the office door and waited. Thirty minutes rolled by and she never showed so I left, a little frustrated.
When I got back to my apartment, I sent an email asking if the syllabus was wrong or something, and went on with my day not expecting a response. I’ve been here long enough to know some teachers just don’t care. They have one class because the school makes them teach one and they give as little effort as most of the students do. So I figured boring class boring teacher and left it at that.
On the afternoon of the next day she responded, apologizing for not showing up and telling me she would be free at the same time on Wednesday (tomorrow).
I went back at 3:15 and knocked on the door. This time I heard the expected, “come in,” and in I went. Dr. Irina Polyakov is medium height, pale blonde hair, and is probably somewhere in her forties. From her name you may be able to tell she is russian. Her accent is strong enough that I occasionally miss some of what she says in class, but I don’t mind. I tend to find some accents kinda hot and russian is definitely one of those.
“Hi Dr. Polyakov--”
“Please, call me Irina.”
“Uh ok...Irina.” I explained my issue with the assignment and fifteen minutes later I was getting up to leave. Her assistance had been surprisingly helpful.
As I was heading out the door she called to me. “If you need anything else, feel free to ask. Students don’t usually take interest in my class.” She said it very matter-of-factly like it didn’t really matter either way, but as I turned to leave I noticed her look me up and down briefly. A little weird but whatever.
