More than a summer job

chapter 9 - a friend

Chara gaped as she walked into the sprawling house that Cass lived in. She noticed the modern furnishings and floors, the decadent fireplace, and the high ceilings with large skylights. She wondered how a fast food cashier could afford such a big place, and in comparison to Chara's shared apartment, it was crazy. She walked into the kitchen to see a fully stocked walk-in pantry and two ovens. In the living room she saw two large couches and a 70 inch TV screen. She did notice that all of the furniture had metal bracings and sturdy construction, but looking at the whaley woman behind her she realised it must be necessary.

"Pretty great, right?" Cass waddled next to Chara as she stood in the middle of the living room admiring the stonework on the walls.

"Oh-, yes! It's amazing, I've never seen something so elaborate! And all the furniture looks so nice, they've gotta be well built, you know. So you don't break them-... I mean, uh." She paused to recollect her thoughts, "That came out wrong. I meant they look very well made."

Cass laughed and waddled her way to the large sliding glass door leading to the back porch. Outside there was more reinforced furniture and a fire pit, behind it a large yard. She asked Chara to sit in one of the large chairs near a stone-engraved table. Then she went inside, still struggling slightly to walk, to get a bottle of wine from the cellar.

Chara looked around the backyard, taking into account that the whole house seemed to have been made for a large person. Every door was either very wide or a double door. All the furniture was built to withstand a very large amount of weight, and the kitchen looked like it was geared to make a feast all at once! In the short time that she knew Cass, she knew only two things. One, that she was morbidly obese, and two, that she didn't seem to care all that much. It was a very strange thing, being as Chara's mother suffered from anorexia her whole life, and was always trying to lose weight even though she was very underweight.

"I've got wine!" Cass came outside with a bottle and two glasses, snapping Chara out of her daydreaming.

Chara clapped her hands quietly. "Yay! I hope you didn't bring out anything too special for someone you just met!"

"Honestly I'm not sure what I grabbed... It says something about some guy named Coppola. I think he was a movie guy?"

Chara was very into movies and the "behind-the-scenes" aspect of it, so she knew immediately who Francis Ford Coppola was. "Oh! He's the director of 'The Godfather'! Great movie!"

"Oh really? I never saw that. I've heard it was good though."

"Yea, you should watch it sometime."

"Maybe I'll watch tonight." Cass smiled and poured the wine into the glasses. Chara took her glass and raised it.

"A toast, to... your amazing house!"

"Sure, I guess to my amazing house." They raised their glasses and took a sip, "Hey, that's not too bad."

Chara felt the same about the wine. "Yeah, it's pretty good!"

They sat and chatted for a little while, finishing off their glasses and talking about different topics. They laughed and soon found out that they had a lot in common. The key difference between the two was that Cass was so very much larger than her companion. Her belly rolls were clearly visible through her work shirt, (On which the buttons were strained) and her fat thighs spread to each side of the chair she was sitting in. Whenever she laughed she shook like a big pile of pudding or Jell-O. Her arms had a layer of hanging fat that hung 5 to 6 inches down when she wasn't wearing sleeves.

Chara tried hard to keep her eyes off of Cass' jiggling body. Eventually, she noticed.

"Anyways, I wanna ask you something." She gave Chara a sympathetic look.

"Uh, sure, ask away" Chara wasn't sure what to say.

"Do I... make you uncomfortable? Like- the rolls... the fat legs? It can be very intimidating, I guess."

Chara waved her hands in front of her to motion that she did not want to make it seem that way. "Oh no no no no no no... I didn't mean to- I just-" She paused, "I've never really been around someone of your... size- before."

Cass nodded in understanding. She understood the Chara was a little bit awkward with other people, and it seemed this was especially true around fat people. "Yeah, it's okay. I was just wondering, is all. Anyways, I'm starving, would you like to stay for dinner?"

"Only if it's no hassle, I don't want to impede..."

"Of course not! Stay a while, let's get to know each other more!" Chara grabbed the bottle of wine and the empty glasses. "C'mon, let's go inside, it's starting to get a little chilly."

Chara followed her inside and into the kitchen where Cass put the glasses in the sink and asked Chara what she felt like for dinner.

"Well, I'll eat anything, really. I don't want to make you cook a whole dinner just for me."

Cass smiled and grabbed her phone from her purse. "Don't worry, we'll just order for delivery." She looked on Yelp for some good delivery nearby. "Whatcha thinking of?"

"I think just the classic pizza sounds good."

"Okay, any preferences?" Cass looked up local pizza places.

"None, just that it's a meat-lover's pizza. I really am a meat lover!" She giggled at that.

"Alright, I can go with that." Cass called a pizza place and ordered two XL meat-lover's pizzas, two orders of breadsticks, three liters of Coke, and a caesar salad.

"Mmm, sounds great, so what do we do while we wait?" Chara looked around anxiously.

"How 'bout we watch the Godfather movie you were talking about!" Cass waddled over to the couch and plopped down with an audible thud. She looked for the movie and found it on Netflix, started playing it, and then realised she had to change out of her work clothes. She tried to get off of the couch but could not get her weight in front of her. Embarrassed, she blushed and called to Chara for help.

"Oh! Yeah, sure I'll help you." She pulled hard to get Cass on her feet again, then the huge woman walked to her room. Cass changed into a more casual t-shirt and leggings, all the more emphasising her FUPA and belly rolls, not to mention her wobbly ass. Then she once again sat down on the couch adjacent to the one Chara was sitting on, to respect her space.

Soon enough, after they were about a sixth of the way into the movie, the pizzas arrived. Cass had gotten hungry and was eating some potato chips on the couch, and knowing that she would have trouble getting up, she just looked at the door as the doorbell rang. The living room had a clear view of the door, as the house was a very open floor plan.

"Don't stress yourself, I'll get it!" Chara quickly got up from the couch and hustled to the door. Cass continued watching the movie and enjoying her chips while chara grabbed the pizza, paying in cash. The pizza delivery guy looked past Chara and into the living room to see the big blob eating chips on the couch, and the two extra large pizzas he was delivering. Cass wasn't looking in his direction, so he watched her jiggle as she chewed the chips. Then, the door closed on his face as Chara took the pizzas and went back to the couches.

"That pizza guy was giving you some looks..." Chara looked at Cass, who stopped eating her chips.

"Oh, I didn't notice. It's really none of his business."

"Are you sure you're gonna eat all of this pizza?"

"Oh, I'll probably have some leftovers for lunch tomorrow or something."

"Ok..." Chara got plates from the kitchen and put some pizza on each, she grabbed two slices for herself and four for Cass, as she knew they would be gone quickly.

And so, Cass dug into her pizza slices, watching the movie and subconsciously putting more and more into her mouth and nodding absentmindedly as Chara asked if she wanted more.
