An economic policy

chapter 2

At the following Governmental staff meeting Mark had no problem to convince the whole team and so a second bill was passed just by replacing the word ‘women’ with ‘men’.
After another year, Mark was happy with the result. The economy was doing fine and the country becoming quite prosperous, like every adult waist line. And he had to admit his personal life also was very much different. He loved the changes in Kate’s frame so did she on his own waist line. They had never been so happy since they married 20 years ago. And he had never been as popular to his people.

One thing bothered Mark though. Wealthy people weren’t really concerned with those two bills. Since they had enough money, they didn’t need to look for the bonus and so the more money people have, the less fat, they were and a visible social separation started to show in the country.
Mark, as president, couldn’t be satisfied with such a situation. He was decided to find a solution, so that every part of the population would participate.
He needed an idea which would apply for all and that wouldn’t discriminate anyone.
He had an illumination: rich people always think they pay to much taxes.

So the Government decided every family would get a tax reduction for every member of the family gaining weight. In other words, the more a family weighed in total, the less tax it will pay.
And it worked!
Rich families invested in the food industry, the healthy one, since they were used to prefer organic products. It also served the rest of the population. No more junk food, but good local, tasty rich food: good for health, the economy, the income and the weight.

Within 4 years, Tuistan was now known as Fatistan and life was good, and nice in that country. Mark learned there is a phrase in German about France: « happy like God in France », now for Tuistan it’s going to be: « happy like a Buddha in Tuistan »
What made him happy, appart from intimate life with his wife Kate, discovering every cooking speciality from all over the country, was seing the wealth gap reduicing. This happened not because rich families would become poorer, but because poor families were becoming richer more quickly than middle or upper class families.
Mark won the midterm elections easily and of course is now running for a new term. Well running isn’t the proper verb, he’s rather waddling for a new term.
