Chapter 6 - Sanctuary

Hailey's car screeched as she turned the corner into her's and Debbie's street. Driving in their town had been the most stressful it had ever been, As they had spotted some of the white creature's beginning to make their way through the town, with some who didn't take the warning to heart being fattened up by them.


As Hailey drove down their street, towards their home, she spotted Tyler's car parked up on the street. A sign he had got here safely, to Debbie's relief. Hailey quickly pulled up their home and parked in their parking space. The two girls quickly hopping out the car, Hailey not even bothering to lock it as Debbie unlocked the door to their down stairs flat and opened the door.

"Tyler?!" She called out as she rushed ahead of Hailey, who locked the door behind them, leaving her keys which also had her car key in the doors lock. "Debbie!" Tyler's head poked out the living room door frame, and seen his girlfriend rushing towards him as the two hugged each other. "I'm glad your OK!" Debbie said aa she rested her head on his chest. "I'm glad also Debbie..." He looked up and see Hailey's fattened form "Oh Hailey...." He was in disbelief at her size, just yesterday she was skinny.... but now she looked fatter that she ever used to be! Highly just sighed "Yeah... I was the unlucky one" she poked her gut which stuck out, her feeling a rumbling coming from it, but payed it no mind

"Look it could be worse... it's a miracle you guy's even managed to get out the city! The two of you could have ended up trapped back there under your own weights!" he let out a sigh of relief "This whole thing... it's crazy! Come see!" he said as he pulled away from Debbie and pointed their direction to the TV what was currently playing the nationwide news

"Some live footage just now from the city of Redfell, tell us what's happening Oliver" The news anchor said as they where broadcasting footage of the city from a helicopter. "Well as you can see Jason, there is numerous white blob creature's just moving through the main market streets of Redfall. We've been hearing pretty similar story's from all over the country about these things just suddenly appeared in the last 2 hours now" Debbie and Tyler sat down on the sofa and watched, as Hailey turned her attention to closing the blinds and curtains to their home, It becoming more dark as the TV was the main light source for the living room.

"Viewers at home may be able to spot stationary blob looking things bellow. it is to our understanding that these are I fact not these creatures, But some of the victims of them. If we can get a closer up shot?" The Report said as the camera Zoomed in and got closer to them from the sky, It showing a fattened up person just spread out on the side of the road, Bigger than the car next to them, that had been flipped on its side. Seemingly by the persons growth as they had been attacked.

The news report continued as Hailey made her way into the kitchen and looked out the window to their garden, With no sights of the creature's as she closed the blinds, darkening the kitchen also. As she walked pass the kitchen her stomach growled again. Was she hungry? Hailey thought as she stood sill and hovered around the fridge for a few moments, Before her stomach rumbled again causing her to open the fridge on instinct, Like old times. As she scanned the fridge to see what there was, Her deciding a potted pudding that Debbie had bought the other day, A chocolate caramel flavoured dessert. Hailey peeled away the tinfoil like lid and grabbed herself a small spoon and pushed it into the cream like desert, having a few bites before she went back through to the living room. She had cut back big time on desserts... but now? There didn't seem like a point to hold herself back any longer. She sat on the other side of Debbie on the coach as the news broadcast continued.

"So what's the latest from the government?" The anchor asked another reporter sitting with him at the table. "Well Jason, the prime minister has issued a public statement saying she will be addressing the nation later this evening with a video broadcast, which we will get the time for as soon as we are informed and will broadcast her message to the nation this evening. But in her written statement for now, she has said for everyone to follow the guidance local from authorities during this crisis, and to stay indoors at all cost. So really Jason not much new right now" The reporter said as the camera panned back to the news anchor "So no word on what these things potentially are?" he asked to which the camera shifted back to the reporter "At this time no, No word on what these things are other than what people have been nicknaming them Jason, the 'BLOBS'" "Tammy Thank you" Jason thanked the reporter for the update.

The news coverage continued as the three friends sat on the sofa in near silence... except for the sound of Hailey eating. To which Debbie finally picked up on "I can't believe your eating in a time like this!" She seemed a bit in disbelief at what she was seeing. "I was hungry ok? Your not the one who's now weighing over doubler her original weight that she woke up as this morning" Hailey scoffed a little as she began to finish up her dessert. Debbie sighed "Sorry Hailey...." she felt a bit bad for getting nippy at her friend, Hailey had been through a lot today. It was hard for Debbie to truly know what she was going through and feeling... But at least they were safe and had sanctuary.... or so they had thought....
