Chapter 3 - First Chapter: The Invite (1)

Lucy's POV:

One spring morning, I'm sitting in the office while I'm typing the letters into the computer, and the hot air flows in through the window. But if I closed it, I would be even worse. Sweat is dripping from my back and that I put on long jeans wich blame myself for. In the booth next door, I hear Bethany crunching something between her teeth and I wonder if I should get something.

In the end, I come to the conclusion that I could buy some chocolate or biscuits from the vending machine. Now i have time to have a snack because the data is downloding in my computer. I get up from my chair, which squeaks so much it's embarrassing. I leave the cab and look for the vending machine on the corridor. In the meantime, strange looking eyes would turn to me asking what the hell I was doing.

When I finally reach the vending machine, I see too many sweets and I don't know which one to choose. I end up buying a pretzel, which will last until lunch. When I get back, Tamara watches me sit down and I can see the contemptuous looks in her eyes, but I hope I'm wrong because I thought we get along well.

After a few minutes, when I had settled down, I thought I would eat my pretzel. I had just started chewing when suddenly a voice came from behind me. I'm really scared while I have nothing to hide, I just wonder how long he since when behind me.

- Lucy, can you give me a minute because I have a question. The boss asked suddenly.

I turn around with a pretzel in my mouth and I don't want to speak with my mouth full, so I swallow quickly and answer with a quick yes. He leads me out of the cubicles and into his office.

Next week, this will be a ship with everything you need. This trip would take at least two months, in which we travel around Europe and Asia by boat. You have to work on the ship in the same way, but since this is a tender, they can earn more money. And the question is, are they included in this wonderful business?

I answered briefly:
- I don't know yet, but it sounds very good. He says my salary will be more?

- Yes, I say, they will receive 130% of their current salary. The work will work a little differently on this road, but you'll see.

And he got out of his office. Meanwhile, at the door, he seemed to have touched my popsicle when he got up, but I'm not sure, so I just went back to the booth. I walked back smiling and saw many people looking at me. When I reached my desk, I noticed that it was past noon. I gathered my bag and went to the cafeteria with Bethany.

Bethany asked a little too much for herself, this affected me for some reason and it was as if I bought more than I needed. At the end, when I ate it, my stomach was not only full, but also a little swollen. After that, it made it harder for me to work.
