chapter 2 the rules of married life

Jason was keen to lay down the rules of their new life together in the beginning. He was going to be the boss in this relationship. She had no choice. She had vowed to obey him. He was determined to bring that up, whenever she questioned anything he wanted to do.
Rule number one. He loved and cherished her and he didn't want her run ragged doing daily chores such as cooking or housework. He wasn't keen on that job either, so he said he would hire a maid and do anything left over himself. This meant she would have more leisure time
Rule number two. She did not do any cooking or shopping. He would do that. She was not to worry her pretty little head about recipes or cooking ingredients. He would see to it. This meant even more leisure time, but it also meant he controlled what she ate and what she wore.
Rule number three. If there were any household jobs to do, from changing light bulbs to putting together furniture or fixing a broken gutter, he would do it, or he would get someone in to do it. He did not want her potential hurting herself doing things she wasn't sure of. He would also see to all the decorating, or get someone in, although he would allow her to pick colours or furniture from a brochure.
Rule number four. He did not go running after dark. It was too dangerous. She could get abducted or attacked and raped or anything. Jason was sure Sarah would find something else to do instead, but he would work on that in the future.
Rule number five. He would see to it that all the household bills were paid on time. She didn't have to worry about finances at all. They had a joint account, but they had not over stretched themselves with the mortgage. His salary could cover all their bills easily. Her salary was really just a top up so that they could pay for all the extras such as Christmas and holidays.
Rule number six. He did not need any help in any of the above activities. If he did, he would ask her or seek out help from elsewhere.
Rule number seven. She was to be a lady of leisure when she came home from work. All she had to do was to put her feet up and eat what was put in front of her. She had to keep up her own personal hygiene, but if she needed anything from clothes to a haircut, he would buy it or arrange an appointment for her. All she had to do was tell him.
Sarah agreed to it all. It didn't need much thinking about. She was getting the easy end of the deal. She would miss the shopping part, but there was always the Internet. He said she could select from a brochure. That's all the internet was. It didn't really matter who selected the 'payment' button.
She would have to think of other things to do in all her extra leisure time that she hadn't bargained for.
Jason already had something in mind.
