Chapter 4 - winter weight gain

Allison continued to tease Sami about being skinny, and he continued to out eat the star of the women's basketball team. He spent most of his afternoons snacking and playing bowling---and had not really broken a sweat since the weather started changing. Although Sami was still wearing his usual outfit of loose sweats, he noticed that his small pants were starting to get a little tight. He went to Target to try on pants and was surprised that he was most comfortable in a large sweat pants. He also took the occasion to purchase now size fourteen shoes.

He told Allison about his new shoes when he made it home that evening. He gave Allison the shoes she lent him back in September and teased her that he now had larger feet. She looked at him and asked if he might have grown a little bit; in truth he was already an inch taller. That evening he decided that he should step on the bathroom scale---and was surprised that the dial stopped at 180 pounds. Sami felt great about his body, and had a certain pride about finally not being the lightest person in the household.

Although not working out, Sami was moving closer to being able to keep up with Craig at the dinner table. For the past few weeks he had felt increasingly hungry, and was just trying to be able to sleep through the night.

That Holiday Break Sami fell into a routine: he would wake up, eat breakfast, take a nap, have lunch, play some video games, snack a bit, take another nap, meet friends for bowling where he'd have a cheese burger or some pizza, head home for dinner and then play video games until late. Often before going to bed he would join Craig and Allison for a pint of Ben and Jerry's.

Even though Sami was consuming upwards of five thousand calories per day, he remained quite hungry. After a few weeks, Allison started to get worried about Sami. He was basically spending the entire day in bed or on the couch and looked a little soft. At the same time she was more than a little tingly at the thought of Sami gradually thickening.

The family celebrated its customary dinner on New Years Eve. It was the first night off of basketball for Craig and Allison in several weeks, and their parents scheduled work so that they could be together. For the first time in over a month Jennifer had a long conversation with Sami. It was quite clear that he no longer suffered from being malnourished. It was a casual celebration, so everyone just wore socks around the house. This made it quite obvious to Jennifer that Sami was almost at tall as Allison. On New Years Day, she told Sami that she wanted to measure his height. He knew he had grown a little, but thought he was still five foot eight. He was quite surprised to hear that he was a little over 5'11 putting him quite close to Allison. Jennifer had Sami step on a scale too, and was surprised that at 170 pounds he outweighed Allison by a fair margin.
