Claire's fattening life as maryanne

Chapter 7

Months passed on until the winter holidays reared their heads, especially Christmas Day. Austin had gave Maryanne a gigantic lunch while he left for their old hometown to get her a “surprise”. Like they talked about when she was merely 400 pounds, Austin went to go get Maryanne’s mother, the only person in their lives that would call her Claire.

“I know I would be the last person you would be expecting at your door,” Austin said as he talked to her at the door, “But if you would come with me, I’ll let you see Claire.”

“Why now? Why not earlier?” she asked as she got her coat.

“Because she wanted to see you for Christmas and reveal to you her true self.”

“What do you mean ‘true self’? Her ‘true self’ was here at home being head cheerleader for her school and then at college.”

“You’ll know soon enough. Now get in the car. We don’t want to be late for dinner,” Austin said as she got in.

He explained to her why she left and why he helped her run away and hide out all this time while approaching his place and the girl that they both care about.

“Now remember, her new name is Maryanne, and this is the life she chose, so when you see her now, please be understanding,” Austin said, “If you’ll excuse me, I have to go get some stuff for dinner and prepare it for tonight and for the holiday. Make yourself at home.”

He pulled off to get more food for his growing wife while her mother walked in the door. Maryanne was going through the last of her lunch, eating a half-gallon of potato salad as her mother stood in shock and disgust.

“CLAIRE RICHARDSON! Just what are you doing to yourself?!” her mother exclaimed after a few moments, “What have you done to yourself?! Why are you doing this…eating?!”

“Hi mom!” Maryanne said after she belched loudly, “I’m just finishing up lunch. Austin should be working on dinner in a bit, and it’s Maryanne Carols now.”

“I’m taking you home! I don’t care about dinner, or Austin for that matter! I’m calling the police and putting him in jail for kidnapping!”

“Mom, I’m not going anywhere, and I CHOSE to leave with him, so you can’t put him in jail for my decision.”

“I am your mother, Claire, and you are coming with me.”

“It’s Maryanne, and I’m not ever leaving Austin or this place. I’m finally happy: away from cheerleading, away from your rules, and most of all, away from those idiotic diets you put me on constantly to keep me thin. Can’t you see?”

“I see a huge pile of disgusting fat trapping my thin daughter.”

“IT’S NOT DISGUSTING! I love being fat, and as a matter of fact, I aim getting even bigger than what I am now.”

“Bigger? You can’t possibly be serious! You must be at least 600 pounds! Stop this madness!”

“Thanks, mom, for reminding me to weigh myself before dinner,” Maryanne said as she got up from the couch and waddling to the scale they had in the living room, “Now let’s see if I am 600 like you guessed. Can you read that number to me? My belly’s in the way.”

Gladly, especially if it’ll make you snap out of it,” Her mother said as she looked at the scale in total awe and shock.

“So? What does it say?”
