The surrogate diaries

chapter 5

This morning I had reached 18 weeks of my pregnancy. In the past month by belly had become very visible. What used to be a pudgy midsection with a few rolls had now become one large gut.

The clinic had sent me a scale to weigh in every week in order to keep track. I stepped on it and saw 277 pounds. I averaged a three pounds gain a week. At first I wasn't feeling it much but by now I was definitely heavy. I was no longer pudgy. Every check up doctor Henley had told me my weight was healthy for carrying twins so I kept going with the diet.

I put on a loose dress as this it what felt the most comfortable to lounge around. I started breakfast by cooking myself six eggs and six buttery toasts with a glass of orange juice in which I mixed in the supplement. I always put more then the recommended scoop as I loved the taste so much.

I brought my breakfast to the couch and started munching on it while looking at social media on my new Ipad.

Today I was going to another ultrasound to make sure the babies were doing alright.

I got ready and started walking to the clinic. Halfway there I realized how out of breath I was. Usually I could easily walk places but I was huffing and puffing and my back was starting to hurt. I found a bench and sat down to catch my breath, putting my hands on my growing bump.

A few minutes later I started walking again, at a much slower paste.

I took a seat in the reception area for the surrogates and saw two women waiting. One of them was about my size but looked much more pregnant than me. Her belly was so big I almost couldn't believe it. Sat down on the couch, it easily covered her entire lap. But what was even more surprising to me, was the other woman. She was much much bigger than us. I wanted to say probably 500 or 600 pounds. She had a slim and pretty face but her bump had about 6 feet or circumference. I didn't know how far along she was but she looked ready to burst.

Her name got called and she put her hands on each side of her to push herself up. She slowly waddled, breathing hard as she passed in front of me. Her belly was definitely the first thing that entered a room. It was so big compared to the rest of her.

A few minutes later my name was called and I walked in the familiar room. Doctor Henley was there, reviewing my file.

"Hi Sasha, we're here for an ultrasound to make sure the babies are doing good today." said Henley, looking up at me.

I sat down on the chair and raised my shirt. He applied the cold gel on my bump and started looking at the screen moving around the machine. He then pressed on a button and we heard their heartbeats, which were both strong.

"You're doing good Sasha, just continue like that!" said the doctor bidding me goodbye.

I walked out of the clinic and decided to take a cab back to my place. Enough walking for today.
