Gaining

Tips for gaining & maintaining weight with low income?

So I'm currently on low income so don't have money to spend on gaining which is sad really.

Meaning snacks really.

I would love to gain or at least maintain my weight at the current state.

I eat plenty of oatmeal in the morning, so thinking about adding heavy cream, mass / weight gain powder to the oatmeal, chocolate & peanuts. Adding olive also.

This on morning & in the evening.

I calculated that I need like 1600-1900 calories a day to maintain my weight.

Any other ideas for cheap foods, snacks for daily use? I usually eat 3 times a day but I could use more really.

Thank you all so much for the help smiley

Where I live it's things like multiple packs of instant noodles, bread and baked beans, cheap pizzas, etc. Usually for £1-2 per meal but can be 500-1000kcal.

Maybe look for foods you can bulk cook like spaghetti, lasagna, maybe soup? etc.

Maybe look around for bulk discounts e.g. Amazon occasional has bulk chocolate on offer.

Look around if any local supermarkets do discounts like one smaller chain near where I live e.g. spend x save y.

Also check out the discount sections, especially near closing, but please don't be an ahole about it (I say this only because I've heard stories in the past).

Just make sure to also include something nutritional.

Do not drink things high in oil because you will shit yourself.

Sometimes violently,

In high quantities, oil is a laxative.

I'd suggest actually looking at the nutritional info and doing the maths as it may not be that economical.

For example, I'm sure one £1.50 frozen pizza I looked at had around ~600kcal Vs ~1000kcal for a triple cheeseburger and large fries for around £5.

The main benefit I find to McDonald's is that it's less filling, so I can eat more, but that comes at a literal cost.

This is actually one of the worst ways you can go about it.

Fast food is no longer economical for gaining. It hasn't been economical for a while. Your best option is to make it yourself. And even then, there are better uses for burger ingredients than making a burger.

That is true, fast food is really expensive in here. It has been always been expensive but now prices have increased as well.

Also true.

McDonald's is mostly empty calories. Sure, there is a nutritional value, but your body will crave more if there are no nutrients.

And yeah, you could keep buying it, but you will essentially be dumping your money into the trash. You'd get fatter, but you'll feel sicker. And if you live in America, you will lose money to medical bills. Also, some health complications, such as out-of-control diabetes, can cause rapid weight loss.
