Chapter 4 - then comes a baby in a baby carriage.

We checked in and sat waiting. They had offered me a bucket, which I took because I was still throwing up and extremely nauseous. Thankfully, I didn't throw up but I was ready to find out what was going on with me.

They called us back and the nurse asked me the routine questions. One of which was, are you pregnant. I told her I didn't know and she made me provide a urine sample. I obliged and she took it off to get tested. After what felt like an eternity, the doctor finally showed up.

"Hi, sorry for the wait. My name is Dr. Stevens and I've been reading your chart. It looks like you've got the flu and we're gonna recommend that you try and eat a bland diet and drink liquids as you can tolerate them. Oh and don't worry, it won't hurt your baby."

"Ok, wait... WHat???" we both exclaimed in unison.

"Oh, I thought the nurse... Sorry, I didn't mean to spring it on you. Congratulations, you're pregnant!"

"How... how far along?" I asked, bewildered.

"For that, you're going to need to talk to your OB, have you been having any symptoms?"

"Not really. I haven't felt sick or anything. I mean, I've felt tired but..."

"Yup, fatigue is one of them. Lucky you, most women suffer from morning sickness or nausea."

Greg and I were still processing this information. The doctor cleared me to go home and suggested I make an appointment to start my prenatal care before I left. We made an appointment for the following Monday.

"Well. It looks like you got your wish, and I'm getting mine," Greg chuckled as he patted his stomach.

"Yeah, I didn't even think to check since I felt so miserable. I can't believe we're going to be parents!" I squealed. Greg hugged me as we walked to the car.

After a couple more days, I felt better and we finally got to celebrate our future bundle of joy. Greg made a huge dinner and I stuffed him as I had never done so before. His belly was massive and it took several hours of digestion before he felt up to going a round. We fell asleep, happy and excited.
