chapter 5

Lance awoke in the middle of the night, starving. It was quite surprising, since he ate the largest meal of his life just a few hours ago. Nevertheless, Lance got up and went towards the kitchen. There, he found another batch of cookies and a side of milk with a note on its side.
“Hey, kiddo! I always leave this cake for you
if you ever want a midnight snack. Go nuts!
-Ed”

Without a moment of hesitation, Lance began to eat the cookies. After a while, Ed happened to walk in. “Wanted a midnight snack, huh?” He asked.
“Oh, did I wake you up?” Lance asked.
“Ah, don’t sweat it, kiddo. I’m usually up this late. Enjoying the cookies?”
“A lot! I don’t get why but I’m still so hungry!”
“Hah! And you said you didn’t want any more food!”
“I really did feel full after eating all that food!”
 “Apparently not!” Ed laughed. “You still hungry for more?”
Lance finished the last cookie, and surprisingly… “I don’t know how, but yeah. I could go for some more food.”
Ed brought out another dozen droughts, and this time, Lance ate them will with ease.
“Look at you go, kiddo!” Ed said. “I’m impressed! I feel like a proud Dad.”
“Heh, it was nothing,” Lance said.
“Sounds like you’ve got room for more.” Ed said, raising an eyebrow.
Lance smiled. “Either that or I just love the taste.”
“Here, I’ll get you batch of cupcakes” Ed left for a moment to rummage through the pantry and brought out four gargantuan cupcakes.
“These are huge!”
“So is your appetite.”
“Okay, you got me there.” Lance started to stuff himself yet again. As he ate the thick cupcakes, he felt his pajamas getting tighter, yet he didn’t mind. He’d grown accustomed to clothes feeling tighter and tighter that he actually started enjoying the feeling a bit (as strange as that may sound). Upon finishing his final cupcake, Lance let out a final belch. “Ugh! I’m stuffed.”

When Lance arrived back to his room, he noticed that the bowl was already refilled with more cookies. He popped a few in his mouth then went to sleep.
Lance had still not recognized the power the cookies had…
