Chapter Six
A week passed and things have been going smoothly. Lance had actually outgrew all of his clothes, Ed had to purchase him new ones while he went grocery shopping one night. Lance had fattened up in size nicely, since all he did was eat and sleep.
Admittedly, Lance was in love with his new lifestyle. He had no worry or concern. He lived in a beautiful barn and was served meals constantly. What more could he ask for? Life was going great; everything was peaceful… Until one day things drastically changed. The day started off like any other. Ed was up early in the morning tending his crops, while Lance just started to wake up. In an hour, he was served three courses of breakfast. After finishing it, he snacked a bit until three hours later, he was served lunch, and another three hours later dinner and and dessert. He finished his plates completely without any problem. When he got back to his room, he noticed Ed’s delicious cookies were once again by his nightstand. He devoured the bowl and in no time he finished it.
Surprisingly, a few moments later, he grew hungry again. Perhaps there’d be another snack laid out for him in the kitchen? Unfortunately not. Lance searched throughout the entirety of the house, but he couldn’t find Ed. ‘Where could he be?’ He thought. After pondering for a while, Lance thought it was possible that Ed was in the stable. Lance was restricted from entering there, but he thought it wouldn’t be a big deal.
Lance left the house and felt the fresh air go against him. It was nice to be out after being cooped up in the house for so long. It was a short walk to the stable, and once he arrived, Lance was shocked.
Instead of horses or cows or other animals grazing, he saw something completely unexpected. People! Rows and rows of people were being fattened up by machines. Some were fed through a funnel, others were hand fed by a machine, and some were fed by a conveyor belt.
“What… on Earth?” Lance said. In all honesty, Lance didn’t know what to feel. Horror? He should feel horrified. What else should he be feeling? This scene right before his eyes are terrifying. This is no ordinary farm… They- no, Ed is farming humans! Why? For what purpose? These questions circulated Lance’s head, yet for some reason, he was mesmerized by all of it. A life devoted solely to eating constantly. It was quite captivating…
“WHO GOES THERE?”
Lance turned around and saw Ed holding a pitchfork against him. This scene seemed all too familiar.
“E-Ed!”
“So, you’ve broken one of my two rules…” Ed said. He started to chuckle. “And to think I was gonna treat you differently, unlike the rest of these animals! I really like you, kid. You were sweet and ate everything I gave you. But you had to go behind my back at the moment I trusted you the most!… I kinda blame myself.”
“Wait Ed!” Lance said.
“What?”
 “This… this might sound crazy, but… look, I know I broke a rule despite how kind you were to me, but even though it should, this doesn’t weird me out!”
“You sick asshole,” one of the people said.
“Get back to eating!” Ed yelled.
“Ed,” Lance started. “I know you’re mad at me right now, but look. I’ve grown to love eating everything you make for me, and you obviously love to see people grow fatter. I’m not gonna go anywhere, I’m not gonna report you to any of the authorities, I’m not gonna do anything like that! Let’s just please put that behind us!”
Ed paused for a moment, and then he lowered his pitchfork down. “One more slip up, and you’ll end up just like the rest of them. Now get back to the house. Before you go to bed I want to give you a little midnight snack.”
