Mcdonalds liminal space

Chapter 5 - exploration

It had been days since I had left Sophie behind. I had trudged through dimly lit halls, resembling 80s McDonald’s restaurant wallpaper. The wallpaper peeled up at points. This must have been an older area of the labyrinth. I had been walking all day, looking for a sign of an exit. I had used Sophie’s substantial wax paper collection to create a trail of ripped paper to keep my bearings. This kept the amount of backtracking to a minimum. I still possessed hope of finding a way out, something Sophie had long lost.

After exhausting myself with a long day of walking, I took a seat next to a rare window, which allowed me to look down an adjacent corridor. Upon settling down, I unwrapped some food Sophie had lovingly packed for me. Thinking of her brought up a twinge of sadness as I bit into my burger. Even though I knew I was trying to help her, it didn’t make the look on her face as I had said goodbye any easier to stomach.

The sound of footsteps brought me out of my rumination. Subtle at first, but growing louder and louder, until I saw a figure in the gloom turn the corner in the adjacent corridor. At first I couldn’t make out who it was, but to my astonishment, I recognised the figure as … “Jordan, is that you?” I gasped.

“Jack, I finally found you””, she said, running up and putting her hands on the glass. It was Jordan alright, with her beautiful big brown eyes, and luscious brown hair, which seemed longer than I remembered. She also looked different in other ways. Jordan had always had a slim hourglass figure. But over the last few days, she seemed to have miraculously grown a fat ass, chubby thighs, and a muffin top. This was definitely going on the list of things to ask about.

“Glad you finally decided to get me out” I joked. Jordan however, didn’t seem to see the funny side, a solemn look clouded her face. “What’s wrong?” I asked, “I was only kidding, it’s only been a few days, besides I even managed to make a friend down here”.

Confusion and shock emerged on Jordan’s face. “What are you talking about?, It’s been three months” she said.
