Chapter 1
Abby had always been the kind of person everyone stared at. The type who glided across a room and caught every eye, not just because of her height or the way she moved with effortless grace, but because of the way people envied her body. Tall and super thin, standing at 5’9 and 113 pounds, with long brown hair that shimmered in the sun and blue eyes that were as piercing as the sky on a clear day, Abby was everything that the small town of Willow Creek revered.Everyone admired her athleticism—the way she could run a 5K in under 20 minutes, the way she danced at the annual spring gala, the way she could drop into a perfect split without breaking a sweat. Men lingered when she passed by, their gazes lingering a little too long. Women often asked for her workout routines, hoping some part of her sleek figure might rub off on them.
But Abby was hiding something.
Behind closed doors, she became someone else. The person the world didn’t know existed. At night after her boyfriend had fallen asleep beside her, she would pull out the worn duffel bag from under her bed. Inside were layers of latex, foam padding, and prosthetics. With each piece she slipped on, Abby’s heart would beat faster, her excitement growing.
First, the fat suit—thick and lumpy, it felt heavier than anything she’d ever worn before. She slid her legs into the padded shorts and tugged at the straps that stretched around her torso, inflating the suit to give herself a belly that hung over her waistband. Next, she placed a special effects chin prosthetic on her face, adding layers of faux fat around her neck and jawline. The final touch was a pair of fake, jiggly thighs that wobbled when she walked. When she stepped in front of the mirror, she didn’t recognize the woman looking back at her. This wasn’t Abby.
This was who Abby wanted to be.
Her breath came out in short, excited bursts as she took in her new form. The heavy belly. The round face. The exaggerated curves that wobbled when she moved. For hours, she would sit in front of the mirror, gently running her hands over her fake body, savoring the feel of her fake 350 pounds. She loved the way her belly jiggled when she laughed or the way she’d have to waddle to the fridge for a late night snack. The suits weren't perfect, but they gave her the illusion of something she could never have.
The best part was when she would go out, disguised in her fat suit. She’d visit the local fast food joints, ordering oversized meals with a satisfied grin. She enjoyed the way people would stare, the way the cashier would look at her with a mixture of curiosity and subtle judgment, as though they knew she didn’t belong in the body she was pretending to wear. Abby would order too much food, take her time to eat, and revel in the sensation of being something other than the thin, athletic woman everyone else thought she was.
It wasn’t just about the food. It was about the way people viewed her when she was "fat"—with disgust, avoidance, even mockery. In her real life, Abby was the object of desire. But in her fake life, she was the object of disdain. And for some strange reason, that made her feel alive.
But there was a catch: Jared.
Abby had been dating Jared for over a year, and he had no idea about her secret life. Jared adored her. He loved the way her slim frame fit perfectly with his own, the way she could keep up with him during their morning runs, the way she always looked stereotypically hot. Jared was proud of her, and he often commented on how great it was that she could "eat anything" without gaining a pound. But Jared also had strong opinions about people who were overweight. He didn’t mince words when it came to his distaste for larger bodies.
“I don’t get it,” he’d said once, when they passed by a group of people in the grocery store who were clearly overweight. “Why do they just let themselves go like that? It’s unhealthy.”
Abby would nod, trying to ignore the ache in her chest, pretending to agree with his words. It wasn’t the first time he’d expressed such views, and it wouldn’t be the last. She hated how his words made her feel ashamed of her secret. How could she explain to him that she wanted to be fat—that the thing he despised was what she secretly craved?
The tension between them grew. Abby’s time spent in the fat suits began to feel more and more like an escape—an escape from the pressure of living up to everyone’s expectations of her. Every time she saw Jared’s approving gaze, she felt like she was slipping further away from the woman she longed to be.
One night, after a long day of pretending to be the perfect girlfriend, Abby decided to visit the fast food place she always went to. She slipped into her fat suit, carefully adjusted the padding, and set off in her oversized hoodie and sweatpants. The familiar cashier—Lily—greeted her as she walked in, her expression polite but knowing. Abby had come here so many times in the past few months, and Lily always knew exactly who she was.
“Extra large fries today?” Lily asked, with a hint of amusement in her voice.
Abby smiled nervously, her voice tinged with a mix of excitement and guilt. “Yeah, make it a double today.”
Lily nodded and quickly prepared her order. As Abby waited, she looked at the mirror on the wall and saw the reflection of a woman she barely recognized. The fake belly hung heavily over her waistband, her thighs were thick and round, and her double chin sagged as she smiled. For a brief moment, she imagined a world where she could live as this person—where no one would judge her, where no one would expect her to be anything other than who she truly was inside.
She paid for the meal and left, walking out into the cool night air.
But as she was getting into her car, she caught a glimpse of herself in the rearview mirror. The reflection of the woman in the fat suit stared back at her, but this time, it wasn’t as satisfying. Instead, she felt an overwhelming sense of loneliness. She could wear the suit, pretend to be someone else, but it didn’t change the fact that she was still hiding from the world—and from Jared.
When she got home, Jared was already asleep. Abby removed her suit and crawled into bed beside him, but the weight of her secret felt heavier than ever. She turned onto her side, her chin pressing into the pillow, and stared at the ceiling.
What would happen if Jared knew the truth? What if he couldn’t love her anymore once he found out what she really wanted?
Abby closed her eyes, hoping for the courage to one day stop hiding—and to finally be the woman she had always longed to be.
