Chapter 1 - Introduction - The Era of Eudaimonia

The world changed imperceptibly. At first, no one noticed the small differences in people’s behavior, because everyday life is full of surprises. Women began to forgo the gym more often, instead indulging in joyful feasts at their favorite patisseries. Their curves grew, and with them something more subtle — their confidence. They walked the streets with their heads held high, laughing out loud and giggling without a hint of shame.
On the other hand, men seemed to be undergoing an equally astonishing transformation. Their bellies flattened, their faces became more refined, and former fans of beer and chips suddenly turned into salad and jogging enthusiasts. Most shockingly, their behavior softened — instead of quarrels over parking spots or bar fights, gestures of politeness and willingness to cooperate became the norm.
First Signs
Initially, these changes were thought to be the result of fashion or new social trends. “Body positivity!” some shouted. “Fitness revolution!” said others. But as the scale of the phenomenon grew, it became impossible to ignore that something bigger was happening. Doctors, intrigued by the new epidemic of self-confidence and healthy lifestyles, began to study patient cases. To their surprise, they discovered a common factor: a previously unknown sexually transmitted virus.
The virus was tentatively named Eudaimonia, because its symptoms, instead of debilitating, seemed to empower people — albeit in a completely unexpected way. Women gained weight in the lower parts of their bodies, and their appetites and libido soared to unprecedented levels. Men, on the other hand, lost weight, developed a passion for physical activity, and became as gentle as lambs.
A Society Transformed
When the epidemic began to be studied in depth, it turned out that the majority of the population was already infected. The situation seemed irreversible, but to the surprise of epidemiologists and sociologists, the consequences were downright idyllic.
Jealousy disappeared — men who once competed for women’s attention now happily shared the company of their partners. Women, previously insecure or trapped by beauty standards, blossomed in their newfound confidence and self-acceptance. Instead of power struggles, society shifted to a mode of cooperation and joyful celebration of life.
Open relationships became the norm, as suddenly no one cared anymore who was sleeping with whom — what mattered was happiness and mutual understanding. People began to care for each other, both emotionally and physically.
Who Was Behind It?
The truth came out only a few years later, when one of the virus's creators, Professor Eliza Morawska, revealed the true origins of Eudaimonia. She belonged to a secret feminist organization composed of brilliant scientists — biochemists, geneticists, and virologists.
“Patriarchy was built on conflict, competition, and shame,” Morawska explained at a press conference where she presented the results of her research. “We wanted to replace those values with something that would bring people joy and peace. Eudaimonia is not a disease — it’s a gift.”
It turned out the virus was deliberately designed to reshape society. Its creators, inspired by a vision of a world where women and men coexist in harmony, unexpectedly became the first carriers themselves. They spread the virus through their intense social lives, which, as they admitted, had been some of the best times of their lives.
The Age of Abundance
The world, where the patriarchal god of war was replaced by the matriarchal goddess of abundance, proved surprisingly stable. Women enjoyed life to the fullest, boldly expressing their desires, while men, fascinated by newly discovered values, supported them every step of the way.
Humanity entered an era of peace and harmony. International conflicts dwindled, as there were no longer aggressive leaders, and societies focused on building community.
Some say this new era marks the end of individualism and a return to primitive communion. Others believe it is the highest stage of evolution. One thing is certain: the goddess of abundance has made herself at home, and humanity — though changed like never before — has finally found the longed-for peace.
