Weight Gain Diary

Chapter 1 - First entry

Just a few months ago I used to be really thin, the kind of person who never gave a second thought to calories, portion sizes, or how my clothes fit. But my gardening 🍃 habits are changing everything, making me lazier and hungrier by the day. What started off as just a casual weekend way to unwind and take the edge off a long week has slowly morphed into a nightly ritual, and with it comes an absolute black hole of an appetite. I swear, the second my mind checks out and I sink into the couch cushions, my stomach completely takes over and demands an absolute feast.
These days I keep going back for seconds, and often even thirds, completely ignoring the fact that I already ate a heavy dinner just an hour prior. The munchies hit so intensely that ordinary, sensible snacks simply don't cut it anymore. I find myself tearing through the kitchen at midnight, putting together the most ridiculous, high-calorie combinations of sweet and salty, or ordering massive amounts of late-night delivery just because the sudden craving for loaded fries or a heavy pizza is completely overpowering. I can really feel my clothes getting tight, the fabric pulling taut across my stomach in ways I'm totally unused to, but I just can't stop my munchies 😔. Everything tastes incredibly vibrant, and the heavy, warm comfort of a completely stuffed stomach perfectly matches that hazy, heavy-limbed feeling that keeps me glued to the screen.
In just a few months I've developed kind of a belly, a noticeable, soft curve that stubbornly spills over my waistbands whenever I sit down. My thighs are getting bigger, chafing and rubbing together when I walk in a way they never did before, and my favorite jeans are getting more and more uncomfortable. Just yesterday, I had to quietly unbutton my pants while sitting in the car just so I could breathe without the rigid denim digging painfully into my newly acquired gut. Getting dressed every morning is becoming a bit of a reality check; shirts that used to drape loosely now cling tight to my midsection, riding up to expose the extra weight I've packed on.
It's a strange realization, staring in the mirror and seeing this softer, visibly heavier version of myself. The sharp angles are totally gone, replaced by a sudden, undeniable padding. Part of me stresses over the wardrobe I'm rapidly outgrowing, wondering if I should try to rein in my habits or finally go for a run. But honestly? When the evening inevitably rolls around, my lighter clicks, and I'm totally zoned out with my favorite junk food piled high on the coffee table, all that anxiety just effortlessly melts away. The couch is simply too comfortable, the pantry is way too tempting, and my willpower is absolutely nowhere to be found.
