The radiator in the corner of the dining room had a rhythm Ash had learned to find soothing, a low, rhythmic clink every four seconds, like an iron clock marking the cooling of the evening. Outside, the November rain turned the streetlights into blurred amber smudges against the glass.

Ash sat cross-legged on the wide banquette, her bare feet tucked under the hem of an oversized marled-wool sweater. She was twenty-four, with large liquid brown eyes and an easy, languid grace that people often mistook for daydreaming. In reality she was simply rarely in a hurry. She watched Mark move between the stove and the kitchen island, admiring the sharp, clean lines of his shoulders beneath his dark henley.

"You didn't have to cook twice this week," she said, leaning her chin on her hand. Her voice had the soft, rounded cadence of someone who rarely raised it. "I was totally fine with the leftover lentil soup."

Mark didn't look up immediately. He was busy whisking something in a heavy copper saucepan, his movements measured and precise. "Lentil soup is punishment food, Ash. You eat like a rabbit when I don't step in." He turned, offering her that quick, brilliant smile that had disarmed her the first night they met at a gallery opening two years ago. "Besides, I wanted to try the reduction properly. Brown butter, sage, whole cream. Real food."

"It smells incredible," she admitted, smiling back. "Heavy, but incredible."

"Good food should have weight to it," Mark said. He ladled a generous mountain of fresh pappardelle into a wide ceramic bowl, followed by three thick spoonfuls of the glossy sauce, topped with crisped pancetta and a snowfall of Pecorino. When he brought it over, he set it in front of her before he even fetched his own plate.

Ash looked down at the dish. The portion was immense, easily twice what she would normally serve for herself. "Mark, this could feed a family of three."

"Eat until you're happy, then eat two more bites for me," he said smoothly, sliding into the banquette beside her instead of across from her. He sat close enough that the heat of his thigh pressed against hers through the wool of her leggings. He reached over, tucking a loose strand of her wavy chestnut hair behind her ear. His fingers lingered at the nape of her neck, his thumb grazing the soft skin below her jaw. "You've been looking so slight lately. Fragile."

"I'm not fragile," she laughed, picking up her fork. "I'm the same size I've been since college."

"I know," Mark murmured. His gaze drifted down her neck, past the loose collar of her sweater, resting on her collarbones where they showed distinct and pale. "That's what I mean. You're static, Ash. You hold yourself back."

She twirled a ribbon of pasta around her fork, blowing on the steam before taking a bite. The richness hit her tongue immediately, salty, velvety, intensely savory. A little sigh of pleasure escaped her. "Static? That sounds like an insult."

"Its not an insult. Its an observation." Mark watched her mouth as she chewed. He hadn't touched his own fork yet; his plate sat neglected a few inches away. "You have this gorgeous, soft nature, but you keep your body so neat, so guarded. Don't you ever want to just... let go? Indulge completely?"

Ash swallowed, resting her fork on the rim of the bowl. She looked at him, her large eyes curious, trying to read the angle of his chin, the intense, unblinking focus in his hazel eyes. "What do you mean, 'let go'?"

"I mean stop moderating," he said softly, leaning in until his breath warmed her cheek. "Stop leaving half the pastry on the plate. Stop drinking black coffee because you think the milk is too much. I want to take care of you, Ash. I want to spoil you until you're soft. Plumper. Curvy in a way that belongs to a woman who is completely adored."

Ash blinked, a faint flush rising to her cheeks. She let out a small, self-conscious huff that was half-giggle, half-breath. "You want me to get fat?"

"Not fat," Mark corrected smoothly, though his eyes darkened with a sudden, sharp intensity. "Not sloppy. Lush. Heavy. I want you to have real thighs, a soft stomach, hips that spill into my hands. Think about how comfortable that would be. No counting, no restriction. Just eating whatever tastes good, whenever you want, because your boyfriend wants to see you thick and satisfied."

Ash studied him, tilting her head. She was trusting by nature, but she wasn't a fool; she knew people had preferences, aesthetics, private desires. She had always known Mark liked things done a certain way. He liked his shirts pressed on wire-free hangers, he liked the apartment vacuumed in parallel lines, he liked being the one who chose the wine at dinner. But this felt different, more intimate, strangely visceral.

"Where is this coming from?" she asked gently.

"It's something I've thought about for a long time," he admitted, his voice dropping into that low, persuasive register he used when he was closing a contract at his firm. He placed his hand flat over her lower abdomen, right over the soft fabric of her sweater. He pressed down lightly, feeling the slight give of her relaxed posture. "You're beautiful now, Ash. But imagine you thirty pounds heavier. Forty. So soft you leave an imprint on the mattress. Think about how intoxicating that would be for me, how much I'd want you."

The bluntness of the numbers made her stomach flutter with a sudden, strange tension. Thirty pounds? That was two dress sizes, maybe three. None of her vintage skirts would zip.

"Mark," she said, her voice quiet, searching. "That's a lot. My body isn't just an art project."

"I didn't say it was," he replied immediately, his expression morphing into one of gentle hurt, as if she had misjudged his generosity. "I'm talking about our pleasure. Yours and mine. Wouldn't it feel good not to care? To let me cook for you, feed you, buy you whatever clothes you need as you grow? You're always so stressed about work, so wound up. This is about surrender. Taking care of you."

Ash looked back down at the pasta. The cream sauce was pooling in the curves of the wide noodles, glistening under the amber light. A part of her, the part that always felt slightly tired and slightly eager to please this sharp, ambitious man who had chosen her, felt a strange, warm pull. There was something undeniably flattering about a partner who didn't want you to starve yourself into angularity, who claimed he wanted you softer, fuller, more decadent.

"I like eating," she said slowly, testing the words. "And I like when you cook. But... I don't know about thirty pounds, Mark. What if it feels bad? What if I get out of breath on the stairs, or my back aches?"

"We take it slow," Mark said, stroking her hip. His thumb hooked into the elastic band of her leggings, feeling the slender curve of her pelvic bone. "Step by step. You don't have to decide everything tonight. Just say you'll try it. Let me feed you properly for a month. Five pounds, maybe ten. If you genuinely hate it, we can reevaluate."

"A trial," she said, looking directly into his eyes, holding his gaze with a steady, doe-like clarity. "Five pounds. Ten at the absolute most. And if I feel gross or uncomfortable, we pull back. Deal?"

Mark's smile spread slowly, wide and radiant, though his hand tightened slightly on her hip, a grip that bordered on bruising before relaxing into a caress. "Deal, sweetheart. Five or ten pounds to start."

"Okay," Ash said softly, a small, tentative smile touching her lips. "Then I guess I should finish this."

"That's my girl," Mark whispered.

He didn't return to his own food. Instead, he stayed right there, hip-to-hip, watching with rapt, unbroken attention as she took forkful after forkful. At first, it felt playful, almost luxurious. Ash enjoyed the food; she enjoyed the warmth of his body beside hers, the way his fingers stroked the soft skin beneath her sweater, tracing the small swell of her stomach as it began to stretch against the waistband.

By the time two-thirds of the bowl was gone, however, the rich dairy began to sit heavily. Her pace slowed down.

"I think I'm getting full," she said, setting the fork down with a quiet clink.

Mark picked the fork back up. "Just three more bites. Remember the deal? Eat until you're happy, then two more for me."

"Mark, seriously, it's so rich,"

"Come on," he coaxed, his voice smooth as silk, lifting a dense knot of pasta to her mouth. "For me, Ash. It tastes good, doesn't it?"

Ash hesitated. His face was open, smiling, but there was an underlying rigidity in the posture of his arm, an unyielding precision in the way he held the fork suspended an inch from her lips. She didn't want to break the warm, intimate bubble they had just built. She parted her lips and took the pasta, chewing slowly.

"Good," he murmured, his eyes fixed on her throat as she swallowed. He fed her another, then another, scraping the ceramic clean until only a streak of yellow grease remained. "Look at that. You did it easily."

Ash leaned back against the banquette, letting out a long, heavy breath. Her stomach felt taut, distinctly rounded beneath her sweater, pressing with unfamiliar firmness against the elastic of her pants. It was an uncomfortable, heavy sensation, but Mark's hand was already there, resting possessively over the distention, rubbing slow, warm circles over the fabric.

"Look at you," he whispered, sounding almost reverent. "You're already softening."

"I'm just bloated from cream," Ash mumbled, half-laughing, though she felt a sudden, sluggish exhaustion creeping over her limbs. The sheer caloric density of the meal was pulling the blood straight to her digestion. "I feel like I need to sleep for twelve hours."

"You don't get to sleep yet," Mark said, standing up. "I made dessert."

"Mark, no," she protested, her voice carrying a genuine note of alarm. "I really can't. I'm completely stuffed."

"It's just chocolate pot de crème," he called from the kitchen. "I made it with mascarpone. It'll settle your stomach."

"Mascarpone doesn't settle anything," she called back, but she didn't have the energy to stand and stop him. She slumped against the cushions, listening to the clatter of small ceramic ramekins against the marble counter.

When Mark returned, he was carrying two small white pots and his phone, which he set face-up on the table. He handed her a small silver spoon.

"Just a taste," she warned, taking the spoon reluctantly. "Seriously, Mark. One spoonful."

"Whatever you want," he said pleasantly, taking his seat beside her again.

Ash dipped the spoon into the chocolate. It was thick, almost the consistency of fudge, glossy and dark. When she tasted it, it was undeniably delicious, but the sheer weight of it made her stomach throb with a dull ache. She managed three small spoonfuls before placing the spoon firmly on the saucer. "That's it for me. I'm officially at maximum capacity."

Mark didn't push the dessert this time. Instead, he smiled, pulling her head onto his shoulder. "You did amazing tonight, Ash. I'm really proud of you."

Ash relaxed against him, comforted by his praise, her eyelids growing heavy in the warmth of the living room. Her fingers rested lazily over her full belly, getting used to the strange, solid pressure of it. *Five pounds,* she thought to herself, rationalizing the discomfort. *Just a little experiment to make him happy. We'll stop whenever I say.*

Beside her, Marks phone lit up silently on the table with a series of notifications.

Ash's eyes drifted toward the glowing screen before she could stop them.

It wasn't a work email. It was an order confirmation from a specialty nutrition website. The screen listed three twelve-pound tubs of mass-gainer powder, two boxes of high-calorie baking additives, and a scheduled recurring delivery set for every two weeks for the next six months.

Ash turned her head slightly to look at Mark's profile.

He was staring straight ahead at the rain-streaked window, his expression stripped entirely of the warmth he had worn moments ago. His jaw was set, cold and calculating, his eyes fixed on some distant, immovable point in the glass. His hand remained on her swollen stomach, but his grip wasn't a caress anymore. It was a firm, heavy weight, pinning her gently to the cushions, holding her in place as if she were already something that belonged entirely to him.
