Chapter 4 - initial results

Two months into Project DFF, the twins were seeing massive results, to say the least. The night before, Jane and Lindsey had heaved a snoozing Mandy to the bathroom scale. Being a deep sleeper---particularly with her infamous earphones---Mandy didn't wake up once. Lindsey held their pudgy roommate on the scale and read off the results. Calculating that her sister had lied about her own weight by about ten pounds, Jane was astounded regardless.

"That's...that's 22 pounds," she whispered. "If we can keep this up for another two months or longer, it'll be even better."

In the morning, Jane and Lindsey sat at the kitchen table, gloating over their success. Despite their knowledge from last night, nothing prepared them for Mandy's arrival this morning. The twins' jaws dropped simultaneously as their budding DFF emerged from her room.

Mandy stumbled into the kitchen wearing pink boxer shorts with an elastic waist and a powder blue bra. Both articles of clothing were beyond tight. The elastic in her shorts was stretched to maximum capacity, sending Mandy's flabby belly spilling over its edge. In a little bit of irony, Mandy was munching on a muffin. "You are what you eat" was on full display today.

"Hey, guys, I feel like I've been totally munching all the food lately. I'm not, uh, blowing all your cash, am I?" Mandy said in an utterly transparent attempt not to seem like a mooch.

"Eh-he. Not at all, Mandy," Jane said dryly. "Say, you look really hot lately! Have you lost weight?"

"Uh, like, I'm pretty sure I've gained a ton of blub lately," Mandy replied.

"Really? I can't tell at all, you look better than ever, Mandy!" Lindsey said, trying to stifle her laughter.

"Hm, well, whatever you say, dude. I'm cool with looking good and stuff," Mandy said before grabbing a box of Nutty Bars and heading to the couch, earphones waiting for her.

Jane and Lindsey knew they would get into Spazio's soon. Just a little more effort and their airhead roommate would be a full-blown D.F.F.
