Canuck, totally that habit of going for a walk and getting a treat is such a mood, and such a way to lock in your weight.
canuck:
the exercise might be helping my breathing a little, but i find my hips are getting sore, so i think i need to take some days off between walks.
Also: stretching. Both being sedentary and getting bigger can cause your muscles to tend to tighten up, at which point they may not stretch properly and so put more stress on your joints. Do those old gym class stretches as best you can, and figure out new ways to stretch despite your new inches, and it should help (as will just walking regularly)

What works best is going to be what she enjoys most, I think. Think about how she seems to like eating, maybe ask her.

From my experience, people into Warhammer and miniature painting seem to be pretty big. Visited lots of tournaments with fat players
Also Magic: The Gathering (nerdy card game) -- the number of big bellies around the tables at 'Friday Night Magic' at card stores (pre-Covid) was always impressive. A lot of nerdy hobbies have a similar factor I think.
Of course, if those things don't interest you at all, that doesn't help a lot.

stevita:Last night I got irresponsibly drunk (at home; not yet eligible for vaccination and not tryna catch covid at the clu

and I ordered a fat suit. Yes, it was a drunk purchase, but I'm really excited for it to arrive. I feel a little weird, because I know fat people have been saying for ages that fat suits are shitty and if you want to learn about fatphobia just listen to fat people...but I'm not trying to conduct a """""social experiment""""" or anything. I literally just bought this thing to use in my own home because I have a fetish.
I look forward to your reports once it arrives

I've seen a few people talking about getting the "Big Fig" bed, which is designed for heavier people. Those who have one seem to like it, but there may be less expensive options that will do the job for you.

Taking a pause to get back into control makes perfect sense. Plus then you sit there and anticipate letting go again, which would make it all the more fun when you do it, I think. (and build up some anticipation in your boyfriend, too)

In general it seems like a bunch of people I know have put on the Covid 30. As I have seen more people I have been surprised. I wonder if people will start to lose or just stay bigger.
I imagine that there will be a big focus, culturally, on diets and exercise as things open up more. But some people won't bother, and a lot who do manage to lose will gain it all back (and maybe more) within a couple of years.
Some will lose and keep it off as they change their lifestyle back to something more active, but I expect that the covid year+ will have nudged up average weights a bit more, in a fairly permanent sort of way.
As for the topic of the thread, none of my family have really gained, and I haven't seen friends face-to-face in ages. But I've noticed rounder faces on some acquaintances whose paths I have crossed.

When putting on my socks became a workout ๐
Iโm not huge but all gut, itโs exhausting, especially in the early morning, pre work hours ๐ท
More or less this. More specifically when I went shoe shopping one Summer day while wearing a light grey golf shirt, and the effort of putting on all those shoes led me to sweat, and the under-moob sweat dampened my shirt making it go dark around there, making it visible to all.

As much as anything it is having an encouraging and supportive fat/gaining community, or at least people happy with fat/weight-gain.
