Marriage suits you, mr jones...and mrs jones...

chapter 2

Madeleine was one of Tim's cast offs. She had been heartbroken when he'd gone off with someone else, even though she knew it would be inevitable after a couple of weeks.
She knew she should forget about him and move on, but she couldn't. She knew he was not worth getting obsessed about either, but she could not help reading about his latest antics. She watched him, she learned everything she could about him, waiting for the opportunity to make her move.
She learned he'd had a skiing accident and broken his leg. She waited until he came home, then turned up on his doorstep with flowers.
His other favourites had abandoned him. He was no longer able to command an audience of adoring females. They were looking for more perfect specimens.
Madeleine wanted Tim, only this time, she wanted to be the one in control.
She stepped in as his home nurse, making sure he was comfortable, getting his shopping in, doing his washing, cleaning and cooking.
Tim was no invalid, but he was used to getting his own way. He ordered Madeleine's around and he did everything he wanted her to do.
Tim's dietary regime was very strict. He ate lots of fruit, vegetables, lean protein and few carbohydrates. He considered that if he was strict at home, and went regularly to the gym, he would have room for extra alcoholic calories and dinner parties.
For the six weeks he was in plaster, Madeleine did as he bid. Some days he was an absolute nightmare, grumpy, unsatisfied and ungrateful. Other days he was extremely thankful and appreciative, but he never apologised for his bad behaviour.
But every day, she was also watching him, analysing him. She made notes on his attitude and his personality. Anything might be important and could be used to turn him around in the future to her way of thinking.

Six weeks in a relationship with one girl to the exclusion of all others was massive to Tim. He knew he needed to settle down. He needed someone to keep him right, someone to have a family with. That was why, the day after his plaster was removed, he proposed to Madeleine.
Of course Madeleine accepted. Her friends and her family all warned her against it. Tim was a playboy not a husband. Men like him always had mistresses. The marriage would never last.
How did she know she loved him when she'd only been with him six weeks. It was too quick. It was bound to end in disaster.
But Madeleine had her own agenda, one she kept to herself. She was going to get her revenge. She was going to make sure women never gave him a second glance, but this was not going to be a quick fix. She was in for the long term. She would have a lot of tongue biting, bowing and scraping to get what she wanted.

I'm a bit rusty writing rather than editing, but if you're serious I'll consider it. I tend plot-driven rather than relationship-driven work, so the handoff would be obvious. Still, I can think of a few things to do with it.

This story is finished. I have already dragged it on longer than I intended. I have nothing else to add creatively, but Why don't you do an ad-endum if you like it so much?

Chrystophase 2003. She is not focussed on escaping. She thinks about escaping, but never does the deed because she is enjoying the food and lifestyle too much.
Whenever you have a choice to make, do you not have a debate going on in your own head? Often,

Question: Why is the female protagonist so focused on escaping the facility when their goals coincide with hers?

She was going to make him immobile and then cruelly leave him. Do you prefer the ending I have written instead?

The computer game character referenced in chapter 8 is, I think, palmer from final fantasy vii. He is one of the shinra executives in rocket town.
