Susans revenge

Chapter 4 - disappearance

Then he disappeared. There was no trace of him at all.
I rang his number. His mother answered. I though that was odd as she was supposed to be in Oman, but then again, people's plans changed all the time.
I rang on several occasions over the next weeks. He had gone. His mother did not know where.
I though that was strange too. A mother always knows where her son is.
Eventually I stopped ringing. This time he had gone, most definitely. There was no point dwelling on the fact.

I found someone new in a couple of weeks and my life returned to the way it had been pre-Simon.

I'd been so caught up with Simon that I had been neglecting my studies. I failed my exams, studied, re-sat and passed second time around.
I moved out of the flat into a big Victorian townhouse in a better part of town. It was still a private rental, but it was a much nicer place with five bedrooms and four flatmates.
A small group of us from the house were at the rock club one night. We were all just minding our own business, I had gone for a little dance.

Then all of a sudden, someone came running towards me! They lifted me up off the ground and spun me around. "Where have you been?" He asked.
It was Simon!
I waited until he had put me down.
What a cheek! What did he mean? He had been the one who had disappeared! He had left his own mother worrying about where he was! How dare he! Well if he though he could pick up where he had left off, he was badly mistaken!

He guided me off to some chairs. He bought me a drink, then set about explaining.

He said he'd got a phone call from a well known band. He said he knew them. He said he'd gone to school with them. He said he'd been on tour around Europe with them as a roadie. They'd needed someone who knew how to set up keyboards and stuff. He said he was even featured on the video playing the keyboards on their latest single.

I didn't believe a word of it and told him so. I was still angry at him. I did not trust him one little iota!
He understood.
He said he deserved it. He confessed to cheating on me to see a Yorkshire girl.
So now he was a LIAR and a cheat!
He said, the other girl had found out because of all the phone calls. She had finished him, so that was why he'd gone on the tour. He'd been running away from his girlfreinds' wrath!
He admitted I was right.
But he said he still liked me. He maybe even loved me. He assured me he was girlfreind free. He wanted to give it another try, if I was willing to as well.
He looked at me with his giant puppy dog eyes. How could I resist them? He promised to be good.
I warned him. I did not trust him one little bit!
