Chapter 6

I had been going into town every night for two weeks now. Camp weigh-ins were nerve-wrecking. Eddy was furious, but had no evidence on how they were putting on so much weight.

Mike had gained back the two he originally lost, plus seven more. Faiz gained six, and Colton put on nine. But Colin really shocked me, with his weight gain powder, and the fact he didn’t care that the ice cream would be melted if I had to bring it back to camp, gained eighteen whole pounds.

Word spread about the gaining guys of Cabin Self-Discipline. Yuri and Tony hadn’t lost any weight either, with me giving them my meals every day. They both approached me one day while the three other guys in their cabin were weightlifting.

“Faiz told us what you guys are doing…we want in.” Said Tony seriously. Deny. Deny. Deny!

“Doing what? We aren’t doing anything.” I sounded like I was lying! Well, I was. “Guys, I…I can’t. What if I get fired…?”

“Please Rory.” Yuri looked at me with his sweet, blue eyes and I melted like butter.

He had such a handsomely boyish face. His cheeks were always rosy and he had a small button nose. He was very pink and I liked that. He hadn’t ever talked to me before this summer, but now we were downright chummy. If he wasn’t so big you’d think he was only ten years old, that and the blond facial hair that seemed to grow right before your eyes.

“O…okay.” I sighed. “But you guys are going to have to come to our cabin when you want your food.” They both nodded, grinning happily. “Oh, and please don’t tell anybody else. Please.”

“We won’t. We’ll bring you the money after dinner.” They went over to the weights and I sighed heavily.

“Rough day?” It was Rusty. I turned around to see him looking at me with a soothing expression. “Want to take a walk?” I nodded. “It appears you have some new customers.”

“I didn’t ask for new customers.” I said. “I just hope this doesn’t get out of hand. I can’t handle any more people.” His arm brushed up against mine and I had to remind myself it wasn’t intentional, that Rusty wasn’t trying to…to…be more than bunkmates/classmates/acquaintances.

“Than k you for doing all this. It might seem weird to you that we want to be bigger and I don’t know what their reasons are, but I have my own.” ‘Oh, no Colin. I totally think it’s perfectly normal that you guys want to turn me on even more than you already do. Please continue.’ It wasn’t that simple.

“What’s your reason?” I asked cautiously. I’ve learned you shouldn’t pry.

“Well…when I was a kid I was really scrawny. My older brothers weren’t…and still aren’t as big as I am now, but they were way bigger than I was when I was younger. I noticed something in about eighth grade. I didn’t like…girls.” He was talking really quickly, like he was afraid if he didn’t he wouldn’t have the courage to go on. “I was staring at this girl and I tried, I mean I really tried, finding something sexy about her. She was gorgeous, I could see that, but I couldn’t feel an attraction.”

He went on, not looking at me once. “I graduated middle school and I started getting taller and I started feeling more, I don’t know, masculine. I knew I couldn’t be gay if I didn’t look gay. Silly, huh?”

“No.” I said. I went through something like that, but mine was earlier and less depressing. I think I knew all along deep down.

“I joined the rugby team because it was really aggressive, I ate more, and I started lifting weights. I did anything I thought would make me less…gay. The thing is, I am gay. I thought the bigger I got the less attracted to guys I would get, but I just liked being bigger it didn’t change how I felt sexually.”

He looked at me for the first time since he started telling me all this. If “masculinity” meant heterosexuality I’m sure he’d be hooking up with girls left and right. His jaw was square and he had full red eyebrows. His neck was thick. He had broad shoulders, a beefy chest, and bulky thighs.

“Rus…Colin.”

“Yeah?� ��

“It’s nothing wrong with being who you are.”

“Thank you, Rory.”
