A short slob story

chapter 2

Listen to this chapter - just press play:
Haylee waddles to the door, both scared and excited for the response she was about to get. Haylee was never the one to push herself and be so risky, since it’s just natural for her to go with the flow, but her urges were too strong. If it ended up being a bad idea, at least she would know and never attempt something like this again.

She opens the door and greets Chris in a shy and nervous tone.

Haylee: "Heyyy Chris…"

Chris was for the most part average. He was 6 feet tall, which is pretty tall compared to Haylee’s 5’4 frame. He was wearing his company outfit, which was much more formal than one should look while killing bugs. A white button-up with khaki slacks and black gloves, holding a sprayer full of bug-killing chemicals. He didn’t have any hobbies or quirks other than an affinity for cooking and a likeness to nature. Haylee and Chris had hung out a couple of times since they live close to one another and seemed to get along, but that only amounted to small talk and surface-level conversation. It was nice, but it didn’t go anywhere. That’s probably why it was such a shock for Chris to see Haylee so… open.

Chris: "Wow hey Jen! It must be my birthday or something. Why are you dressed like that?"

Chris tried to play it off, but he was definitely nervous and a little awkward seeing Haylee like this.

Haylee: "Oh well…"

Many excuses spun in Haylee’s head. She decided to downplay the truth.

Haylee: "I had forgotten to do laundry and this is all I could find to wear until I do it. It’s better than being naked, so hopefully you don’t mind?"

She can’t believe she actually said that. There really wasn’t any going back now.

Chris: "I suppose. I’m not complaining though. It’s a very nice view for me. Hopefully I don’t get too distracted while I’m here!"

Woah did he just… Haylee’s mind went into overdrive trying to understand what Chris just said, but quickly snapped back and responded.

Haylee: "Yeah hopefully…"

Chris laughed and a silent pause between the two of them grew. Then Chris asked the same question he asks whenever he comes over.

Chris: "...So have you seen any bugs around?”

Haylee: "Oh right! Yeah I've got ants here or there, but it’s nothing too serious."

She let Chris into her home only to turn around and stare at the mess she made. In that small amount of time, she had completely forgotten about her junk food trash litter.

Chris: "Looks like someone threw a party in here!"

Haylee: "Yeah well I was kinda hungry and I really couldn’t help myself. It wasn’t that much"

Haylee once again downplays her lazy behavior.

Chris: "So you were the one who did this? Well, no reason why you’re starting to see ants. It looks like a pig slept here last night."

Chris was starting to tease her, which she deserves for being so messy. Haylee’s face grew redder as she tried to muster up a response. It was getting more difficult to do so as she was also trying to hide how much she enjoyed this.

Haylee: "Yeah guess I have gone a little overboard lately…"

Chris: "Don’t beat yourself up too much. I’ve seen much bigger messes, usually parents with kids get pretty nasty. Before I spray the place, how about we clean this place up?"

Haylee: "Sure! That’s so kind of you!"

Haylee grabs a trash bag and places it right in the middle of the room. The both of them start cleaning up the pigsty Haylee created, and Chris being there definitely made it go by a lot quicker. About halfway through the cleaning process, Haylee’s breathing becomes heavier as she grows tired of bending over and picking chip crumbs off the floor.

Chris: "Hey you sound tired. Let me take care of the rest of this while you sit down."

Haylee: "Aw thanks!"

Haylee sighs as she sits back down on the couch. She watches Chris clean up the rest of her mess while she drifts off into thought again.

“A very nice view, he said. Is he into fat chicks? Is he into me? How have I gotten this far?” She kept trying to understand Chris’s motives, but spoken words broke her train of thought.

Chris: "It looks like you missed a bag"

Chris says as he shakes a large family-sized bag of chips in front of her.

Haylee: "Hehe yeah guess I did. You can just put it on the table."

Haylee was genuinely surprised that there was anything left in that heap of trash. Chris places the bag where Haylee said.

Chris: "Well this place is cleaned up now. I’m gonna get started with my duties. You just sit tight right there."

Haylee nods her head to Chris’s command and watches him walk to the kitchen.

“I could definitely get used to this”, Haylee says to herself as she replays the last hour of her life in her head. The butterflies haven’t left her body yet, and she couldn’t remember the last time she got so flustered. The only thing that would make this moment better was food of course. Haylee then got an idea, to really test the waters. She struggled to lean forward, but was able to grab the bag of chips that remained from her last binge.

"I wonder what he would think if I ate this? Would he call me a slob? Shame me? Or does he really like me this big?" Without another thought, she opened the bag of chips and started to eat them, savoring every bite while letting her thoughts roam around her head.

Chris finally finished his task, spraying the corners and crevices of every room with his pesticide. He returned to the main living room, only to find a fat Haylee eating the bag of chips he found earlier. Chris smiles and starts to tease her again.

Chris: "You really couldn’t wait for me to leave before you create another pigsty?"

Haylee instantly became flustered again, but she knew she had to say something.

Haylee: "I’m sorry. I know we spent so long cleaning, but I was just really hungry and I can’t just leave the bag sitting there…".

Chris: "Heh well I guess it’s just in your nature"

Chris walks towards Haylee, kneels down, and removes one of his black gloves. Haylee watches him, perplexed as to what he is trying to get at. Chris pulls out a paper towel, and wipes away the crumbs that were on Haylee’s lips and cheeks. While he does this, Chris speaks up.

Chris: "You should really watch what you eat if you’re ever gonna get rid of all these ants."

Haylee: "Oh yeah you’re probably right…"

Chris: "Y’know if you really wanna eat, you should come over to my place sometime. As you know, I can cook pretty well, and I have a few recipes that I need someone to taste test. Plus, you’ve been quite open with me, so let me be open with you."

Haylee’s cheeks grew as red as they ever had been. “He can’t really be serious? He’s offering to cook just for me?” she thought to herself.

Haylee: "Of course!" Haylee realized that she sounded too enthusiastic so she calmed herself and continued. "How about this Saturday?"

Chris: "Sounds perfect!" Chris gets up from the floor, grabs all of his belongings, and heads for the door. "I’ll see you Saturday then. Make sure you wear something comfortable, oh and please try to come with an empty stomach!"

Chris waves goodbye and closes the door, leaving Haylee alone in her apartment once again.
