chapter 6 series 1 episode 6 - the final

The final of the competition showed a signature bake of 'pofessional cupcakes', then another contestant was eliminated before the big tea party finale when they made petit fours.
Amy was straight in the kitchen making lemon cupcakes, cinnamon and banana cupcakes and mint, ginger and blackberry cupcakes. Her decoration left a lot to be desired. It was no where near the standard of the contestants and still very messy. But Robert tested every batch by trying two of each variety. Pleased that soon this would all be over. The next day she turned her hand to the delicate petit fours. She made a whole selection of them from mini quiches to mini macarons. Robert devoured them greedily... every single one and there was a lot! He wanted to celebrate the end of his gluttony with style. He had consumed far too much in these last six weeks.
He stepped on the scales the next morning. They were a testament to his greed. He'd put on more than two stones! Twenty six pounds, in six weeks! He could hardly believe it, but he had gone up two clothes sizes as well in that time. The scales were probably right.
He stood in front of the mirror, looking at himself, naked. He'd never had a double chin before. He'd never had man boobs before. He could grab a handful of his belly and drop it on the bathroom counter.
He pinched the little rolls of fat on his sides. He compared his side view to his frontal view. He was both astounded and repulsed at the same time!
He got dressed. He had to stop Amy baking. He had to stop testing her cooking. He had to get rid of all this excess flab. He had to regain control. He'd make enquiries at the gym, see if he could afford a personal trainer. In the meantime Amy could concentrate on baking healthy foods for a change.
He came downstairs ready to start the day with a healthy breakfast. He poured out a merge bowl of muesli and opened the fridge to reach for the milk. Three kinds of cupcakes said 'hello' to him when he opened the fridge door. They beckoned to him, compelling him to come closer. He opened the plastic container that they were in and looked at them. Looking at them would not do any harm... maybe he'd have just one for breakfast, but which one to choose, they were all so delicious! He chose the lemon one. He bit into it and his senses turned topsy-turvy. How could he not have chosen the banana ones... or the mint ones for that matter!
All of his good intentions left him! He ate six cupcakes for breakfast, one of each kind and he put the box, containing the rest of them in his work bag to share out at work... but he didn't share them out! All day he kept dipping into his 'treat drawer' until every single cupcake was gone.
That was it now! No more cakes! No more biscuits! No more treats! No more 'bake off'!
He was angry at himself to giving in to the temptation. He had to be stronger. He had to resist! Enough was enough!
He called in to the gym on his way home and took on a year's membership. He was going to fight this!
