Chapter 1
"Hey you," she said, as she approached him from behind and wrapped her arms around him. She'd found him in the kitchen that night upon her return from work. He was preparing a sandwich. She rested her head on his back - somewhere between the shoulder blades, she guessed - her fingertips struggling to meet one another as her arms reached around him. If he kept gaining like this, very soon, her fingertips might not meet at all.
"Hey," he replied, as he squirted a generous dollop of mayo onto his sandwich, oblivious to the calories. "How was your day?"
She popped her head to one side of his enlarged frame, picked up the mayo, and squirted on a lot more.
"Don't be shy," she said, with a sly smile. "My day just got better, thanks."
He laughed and placed a second slice of meat on his sandwich to balance her intervention.
"Better?" he asked.
"Yes," she hummed her approval, "better." She squirted yet a little more mayo on top for good measure.
He crowned the sandwich, pressed it firm, and placed it by his lips to take a bite.
"What's for dinner?" he asked, as he chewed.
Still embracing him from behind, she patted his belly. "Need more, will you?" she asked.
He nodded. "This won't fill me up, you know that."
"I'd be surprised if it did," she said, examining his generous love-handles with her hands, "With this big old tub you've put on since we hooked up."
He laughed nervously. "You don't mince your words do you?"
She didn't answer.
He placed the sandwich back on the counter and added more mayo. "You were right," he conceded, "needs more."
"Told you," she said, patting his belly lovingly once again. "I'm rarely wrong. Just as you're really beginning to find out."
He could feel her grinning into his back, but he ignored her teasing for now, pleasing though it was.
"Why so late?" he asked, feeling his waistband tighten as he sank his teeth into a second bite of his sandwich. He may have overdone it a little at lunch again today.
"Just work," she said, "being a pain as usual."
"They don't pay you enough," he said, "with all the effort you put in."
"This is a one off, by the way," he added, hurriedly.
He motioned to his sandwich. "Seeing as you were late."
"A one off huh?" she said.
He nodded again.
"Liar," she thought to herself. He'd clearly forgotten who bought all the bread and knew exactly how much had been disappearing of late.
She ran her hands slowly up to his tie, loosened its knot, and slid it away suggestively from his collar. Grasping an end in each hand, like a skipping rope, she hooked it beneath his belly hang and playfully pulled upwards.
His gut was certainly getting heavier, she could feel by the effort it took to lift. Her lips curled into a broad smile once again, she simply couldn't resist. She placed her mouth seductively by his ear.
"Well at least the scales won't lie," she whispered. "About all your little 'one-offs'."
She squeezed his behind. "Or your pants for that matter, they're getting tight."
He was frozen to the spot. If only she could see from behind how his cheeks had flushed a deep darkened crimson.
She took another two slices of bread and buttered them heavily for him.
"Just to tide you over whilst I get changed," she said, smiling sweetly at him. "Seeing as it's only a 'one-off'"
She clicked on the oven.
"Don't forget the mayo now," she said, as she began her way out of the kitchen and up the stairs.
"There's always a spare bottle in the fridge."
