Chapter 1: First date

Mark sat in the coffee shop with anticipation. He had been talking to Jake for three weeks on a dating site and it was finally time to meet in person. He looked at his phone and went onto the app to stare at Jake’s profile pics one more time. Mark could tell they were not very recent, but he was sure that Jake would be recognisable as soon as he arrived.

Minutes later, Mark got his first in-person glimpse of Jake. Jake was more handsome than Mark had imagined but didn’t quite match his pictures. Mark decided to keep quiet. At that moment, they locked eyes, Jake gave a little wave and Mark waved him to come and sit with him.

“It’s so lovely to meet you,” Mark said as Jake sat down. Mark got a full body glance of Jake. “Likewise,” Jake replied.

They engaged in small talk for a few minutes before Mark said l, “here’s the menu. What takes your fancy?” Jake took a look, “all of it looks so good. It’s supposed to be a coffee date but I suppose I could have a slice of cake. That triple chocolate fudge cake I saw when I walked in looks amazing.”

Mark replied, “Have whatever you fancy. I think that’s a great choice. I think I’ll have devil’s brownie.” Jake said, “ooooh, brownie is my weakness. The sweet treats are huge here so at least you get value for money.”

After their orders were taken, they waited just a few minutes for their coffee and cake to arrive. Jake was right, the portions were huge. Mark knew he would never be able to finish his brownie, but thought that, somehow, Jake would not struggle to finish his chocolate fudge cake.

Jake talked between mouthfuls but before long the cake was finished, save for a few crumbs.

“That was so good!” He exclaimed. While eyeing up Mark’s unfinished brownie, Mark said, “this is too. But I can’t eat anymore. You’re welcome to have some. You should definitely try it.”

“I’ll have a small bite.” Jake said, but within seconds the whole lot was gone, he used his finger to mop up the crumbs and licked his fingers.

“I really like you,” Mark said almost out of nowhere. “Aww thanks, you’re really nice too and it’s been lovely to finally meet you in person” Jake said.

“You’re more handsome than in your profile pics,” Mark continued. “Well, I don’t know about that. Definitely fatter. Haha.”

“There’s nothing wrong with that. In fact, I like it” teased Mark.

“Really!?” Jake was shocked.

“Of course I do! How much have you gained, by the way?”

“Let me think. Well… I was 140lbs in those pics from a year ago. I’m now probably about 205lbs” Jake said, embarrassed.

“Fuck! That’s hot,” Mark whispered.

“You think so?” Asked Jake.

“Totally!”

With that the conversation flowed like a river of melted chocolate. Mark asked about Jake’s diet. Jake explained that he enjoyed muffins and donuts daily, avoided exercise and made sure to eat large everyday. Mark was impressed, but before long the date was over.

“We should do this again.” Said Jake.

“Nah, we should do something way more fun next time.” Suggested Mark.

“I love the sound of that,” Jake’s eyes twinkled at the thought.
