Chapter 1 - Moving in

I had been searching for the perfect house for a long... long... time before I found an old victorian style house that I just loved. I knew the moment I crossed the threshold that I had to have it. It felt like home.

I put in an offer straight after the tour was completed. The first offer was rejected, but I did get a counter-offer from the seller. This offer was a little higher than I would have wanted, but I knew that I just had to have that house. So I accepted.

It was a month or so after I accepted the offer before I got to move it. I was a huge hassle to pack everything up, but I knew it was worth it as soon I unlocked the door. The rest of the day, I brought in my things and started to unpack.

I unpacked most of the kitchenware and my bedroom that evening, and the next morning, I unpacked the rest of my belongings. The last thing I went to unpack were my books. The house had a built-in bookcase. It was covered in dust, so before I even opened the first box, I got a cloth and dusted it all down. I got to the end closest to the wall and found an old tattered book stood up at the end of the shelf.

I pulled it, but after it came out a certain distance, I heard a click. The book shot out of my hand back to the shelf, and I suddenly dropped down through the floor, eventually landing on a mattress. A plume of dust puffing out as I land. I look up the hole and see the light from above slowly disappear as the trap door closed. It was dark in this hidden room and I fumble round the walls looking for a light switch which I eventualy find. Flicking it to reveal the room I had fallen into.
