Chapter 1

It was the first day of college and boy was she so nervous. Frankly, Nancy didn't know what to expect. Nothing could have prepared her for what was about to happen. Nothing could have prepared her for Veronica Weller!
Nancy arrived at night time, the taxi dropping her of in front of the student dorms. It was her first time away from home and her over controlling bitch of a mother. As she stood there with her bags on the ground looking around campus, she took a deep breath. This was going to be the start of a new chapter in her life. She had left all the drama from high school back in Illinois and was looking to start fresh. Her blond hair waved from side to side as she walked across campus with her bags in her hands to find the reception.
At 5'7" and 115 pounds, she was lean and limber with long, toned legs and an almost imperceptible waist. Her small A-cup breasts were lost under the billowing sweat-dampened T- shirt. Her bike shorts, size zero, were just a bit too loose on her tiny, rock-hard butt. Men wanted her and women wanted to be her. That was how it had always been for Nancy Henderson. She knew, too. There was just something about her athletic, muscular physique that people around her found incredibly appealing.
Moments later she found herself at the reception desk, and the receptionist directed her to where her dorm room was. But by the time she'd made the first left and second right, she'd forgotten what the directions she had been given were.
Suddenly she passed three girls in cheerleader uniforms "OMG, did you see that blond guy...I think his name is Brad" one of them stated
"Yeah, I know - he's totally gorge and rich, from what I hear" the other one continued
As Nancy passed them, they became deadly silent while giving her the elevator glance. They looked threatened. If it had been back in High school, they should have been. Back then, Nancy would have been queen of the hive and the most popular girl at that.
But as she matured into womanhood she had come to realize, that being a social climber had nothing to do with person she wanted to be.
She kept wandering down identical looking corridors full of identical looking doors and soon discovered that she was more than a little bit lost. "What was the room number again?" she said to herself. In a mixture of nervousness and anxiety about starting college she'd forgotten that as well. Nancy awkwardly fished the information sheet from her pocket. "Oh yes, that's it room 101. Her mind made an unwelcome connection with a book she had read in school. In George Orwells 1984 room 101 was a torture chamber where you were made to experience your worst fear. Nancy wasn't a superstitious person but surely that was a bad omen. What if the room was a horrible place, and her roommate was an inconsiderate bitch, and she couldn't pass her exams, and couldn't make any friends, and couldn't find a boyfriend, and she'd end up in dept and, and, and..... She forced herself to stop dwelling on these negative thoughts and try to be positive, "come on Nancy - you're a smart, capable, beautiful, well liked girl, you can achieve anything you want!" she thought to herself.
Room 101... there it was... Nancy was now standing in front of the green wooden door with her bags on the floor. She thought about all the girls who had roomed in there before her arrival and all the girls that would room in there after her departure in 6 years' time. Nancy took a deep breath and savored the moment in silence for a few second before turning the key in the lock. Her courage faltered as she slowly pushed the door open and was met by a shocking sight; inside was what had to be the biggest ass she had ever seen jiggling violently from side to side as the fat girl who owned it, was cooking some greasy meal on the stove in the kitchen. Horrified she tried to calm herself down as she gave the unknowingly fat girl the elevator glance. Maybe room 101 was a torture chamber after all? Nancy thought she'd better let her presence be known and dropped her bags on the floor.
When the sound of the bags echoed through the room the fat girl let out a small scream and quickly turned around.
"OMG you scared me half to death" she said with smile smeared across her pudgy face.
"Sorry"
"You must be my new roommate?" the massive girl continued a little shy and red flushed. I'm Veronica Weller, it's nice to meet you!"
Nancy was still in shock over just how massive her new roommate was...well over 500 pounds by her own estimates. Maybe even 600.
"Hi, I'm Nancy Henderson"
Veronica's soft hand shook hers enthusiastically; she seemed genuinely pleased to see her.
There was a short silence as both girls tried to seek comfort looking at the room around them.
"You're really pretty" Veronica suddenly said looking shyly to her new roommate.
"Oh...thanks...you're really pretty too" Nancy lied.
"Ha...that's a laugh, I'm not pretty, but thanks anyway!"
Nancy smiled a little at that. She had to give Veronica points for self-irony.
"You know what...enough of awkward silences! I think we should order some Chinese and get to know one another!" the fat girl said.
"Ahh ok?" Nancy couldn't help but smile. She hadn't been in the apartment for more than 2 minutes and already she was bringing up food.
"We are going to be roommates for the next four years, you know?"
"Yeah, I guess you're right...you know what, let's do it!"
"Really?"
"Yeah, I haven't had anything to eat today"
"Speak for yourself!" she said patting her enormous belly.
Nancy was proud of herself for agreeing and given her fat roommate a chance. She was definitely going against her instincts on this one. Had it been back in High school Veronica would have been thrown out with the trash.
"Oh! Where's my manners, first I'll need to give you the grand tour"
Veronica started to show her around the apartment, the first stop (naturally for a girl like her) was the kitchen. As she followed her into the kitchen her eyes were transfixed on Veronica's titanic backside which rippled and jiggled with every heavy step she took, stretching the fabric of her tent dress almost to breaking point. "Damn... she's as big as a house!!" Nancy thought to herself.
She snapped out of it as Veronica showed her some of the main features of the Kitchen. This was clearly her domain! There were all kinds of modern gadgets, Utensils that Nancy couldn't even name hung form hooks on the wall, the cupboards and fridge were full to overflowing with food and ingredients. Frankly it all seemed pretty boring, but being polite Nancy tried to look interested.
After a few minutes of chit chatting the girls surprisingly began to find common ground. Nancy noticed a poster of Coldplay in the living room.
"OMG...I LOVE Coldplay!" Nancy said
"Yeah I know - Chris Martin is so dreamy!"
"Definitely!"
From there the conversation only flourished, from one common interest to the next and soon the food had arrived.
"Wow, this is really good" Nancy said
"Yeah, it's all right"
"All right!? This is amazing!"
"I don't know, I enjoy cooking myself actually"
Nancy didn't know why she was surprised.
"Well, well, Nancy! You're not a baker, are you?" Veronica continued.
"What? No, not really, well I've baked a few brownies and cookies out of a packet.
"All that talk about food. What a typical fat girl...a nice one for sure...but typical!" She thought to herself
Veronica continued "I know it's an odd question to ask it's just that I love baking, and cooking and making all kinds of food, you'll have to try my home baked cookies, there're way better than that rubbish you get in the packets! In fact the whole reason I'm at college is to get a culinary arts degree, so I can become a professional chef one day with my own restaurant. So what brings you here? What are you majoring in?
"Oh, erm Business"
"Awesome! So, when we graduate college you can manage my restaurant for me!"
Nancy had to admit her enthusiasm was infectious, as she looked into her kind, bright, shining eyes overflowing with optimism. She felt her prejudges somewhat melt away. "I think I'm going to happy living here...yeah, Veronica is well...not what I expected, but maybe that's a good thing - she seems nice"
It was safe to say that the two unlikely friends seemed to get off right from the start.
After they were both done eating the tour continued.
Veronica showed Nancy to their bedroom. It wasn't particularly big for two people, and as she was used to having a room to herself, she wondered if might feel too cramped. The room was a mirror image of itself with a bed at each corner, at its foot was simple wooden wardrobe taking up the other corner of the room, next to that against the far wall was a dressing table with drawers underneath it.
It was nice with a lot of pink and posters on the walls of bands she liked. Turned out she was a real music buff just like Nancy.
Veronica's side was already well decorated with photos, flowers, soft toys, makeup, Cd's, a pink feather boa covering over the top of the mirror, a couple of pop art posters, and cute little girly nick nacks dotted around. Nancy noticed that the rest of the apartment too was filled with frilly, girly embellishments as well. These touches had to have come from Veronica. She seemed like quite a "girly girl"; the type who liked pink and frilly things, Nancy had always been the more sporty type and liked to keep things simple. But how could the place be this well decorated when it was only the first day of Freshers week?
"Um.. Veronica when did you arrive?"
"One week ago. I guess you could say I've made the place my home already! So what do think of my decorating skills?"
"Well, it's um...very pink"
