Chapter 3 - Proposals

So hear me out. I knew from a while ago that I would end up marrying Rachel, our chemistry was unmatched, we really liked each other physically and after nearly 10 years together, we knew for a fact that our relationship worked.

So why didn't I pop the question earlier, why the wait? Well dear reader, who's got the time, the money or the organisation skills for a wedding? Is not that we had anything against marriage but we were young open minded people already living together, none of us were religious and we really didn't want the fuss that involves a traditional wedding.

But when my concerns about the sustainability of Rachel's gains were at its peak I decided it was time. The reasoning? Simple, while preparing the wedding she would have to maintain her weight to at least fit into the dress, and after a wedding, the next stop is normally thinking about having kids, and you can only do that when you're reasonably small, or at least not 500 pounds.

So by finally proposing I opened for Rachel the same can of worms that was eating me on the inside. She started thinking about the future and realising that her current pace was too fast for her foreseeable marital life. And just like that she was more on board with my new healthish approach to our life together and all of that without hurting her feelings.

I'm sure some of you are wondering how I proposed. Well it had a certain difficulty that I wasn't expecting. You see, Rachel was around 350 pounds at the time, that means there was nothing small about her, and that includes her fingers. She always had chubby hands, but they had exploded with fat in recent years, what made finding a ring of her size a challenge.

She had stopped wearing normal rings a while ago and she would only wear mid-finger ones, so I was absolutely clueless about the size.
I had to kind of guess based on online guides and buy one of my liking. I proposed on a warm autumn day while we were on one of our walks through the park. When we were resting near a spot that she really likes I popped the question. No fuss, intimate and personal. The ring ended up being a bit big on her, but she liked it a bit loose, thanks god.
She of course said yes, now we had a wedding to plan.
