Sophie entered the door of the apartment, her workout at the gym had been a tough one causing her to be exhausted. As she walked in to the living room she say Mark and Macy sitting on the couch cuddling as the watched a movie or TV show, Sophie wasn’t sure at her first glance. “Hi Sophie,” said Mark as Sophie made her way closer to the door of her room. “Hi Mark,” said Sophie quickly remembering what Macy had told her about leaving the two alone and not to bother them. “Where were you doing this late?” Asked Mark preventing Sophie from entering in her room causing Macy to scowl at her. “Oh I just was at the gym, trying to shed some of this extra pounds you know,” said Sophie as she gestured to her chubby belly. “Well, it must be working because you look like you’ve lost a bit of weight,” said Mark. “She could stand to lose a lot more if we’re being honest,” said Macy in a bitter tone as her boy toy was paying attention to her roommate instead of her. “Macy come on don’t be like that,” said Mark as Sophie thanked him and rushed into her room to avoid confrontation from an angry Macy. “Like what?” Said Macy pretending to be oblivious to her rude remarks towards Sophie. Sophie closed the door and continued to listen through the door of her room. “You know what I mean, why do you have to be so mean to her, it’s obvious that she’s trying to lose weight,” said Mark. “I mean look at her she could try a little bit harder, with that body I couldn’t live with myself,” said Macy in a disgusted tone. Sophie only smiled on the other side of the door; Macy was the one to talk she was going to look more like the old Sophie than she does now.

“Well, it’s not like you’re perfect you know,” said Mark hinting at Macy recent weight gain without saying outright. “I’m basically a goddess compared to that whale of a girl,” said Macy completely unaware of her ever growing belly that she had developed. “Stop Macy, don’t say that about her she’s really trying to lose weight and you shouldn’t make fun of her for that,” said Mark. Sophie could hear his sincereness coming from his voice. To be honest with herself she had a thing for Mark, he was a sweet guy and extremely attractive, so why he was seeing Macy still confused Sophie. “Oh, is she your new girlfriend or something? Why are you trying to defend her?” Ask Macy as her voice got more and more irritated. “I didn’t say that, but I’m getting tired of how mean you are to her she such a nice girl,” said Mark as Sophie held her breath as she felt butterflies in her stomach. Could it be possible that if Sophie slimmed down she could have a chance with Mark she asked herself. “Then why don’t you just date her then,” said Macy in an almost yell. “You know I would rather date her then someone as mean to people that are nice to her as you,” said Mark as Sophie could hear him getting up from his seat. “I think you should leave,” said Macy in a stern voice. “You know I think that’s a good idea, I don’t know why I even started seeing you, you’re mean for no reason,” said Mark as he gathered his stuff from the couch. Sophie heard him exit the apartment as Macy sighed loudly and opened what sounded like a bottle of wine. Sophie peaked her head out of her bedroom door to see Macy drinking a bottle of wine straight from the bottle with tears in her eyes. “Is everything okay?” Asked Sophie as she slowly walked out of her bedroom. “Mark and I are no longer friends I guess,” said Macy. It was the first time that Macy had opened up to Sophie and it had taken her back. “I mean he was a jerk anyway,” said Sophie lying through her teeth but attempting to make Macy feel better. “I know right,” said Macy as she took another drink. As she lifted the bottle to her face her shirt started to ride up and expose her growing belly. Sophie made a mental reminder to replace her clothes with larger sizes to prevent her from noticing her weight gain. “If there’s anything that I can do you let me know,” said Sophie trying to be nice. “Actually could you order us a couple of pizzas I’m starving,” said Macy still slightly in tears. “Of course I could use a chest meal here,” said Sophie knowing that Macy was going to be the only one eating anything tonight.
