Glances Part Two: Ingrid

Chapter 1

Ingrid’s overalls felt a little snug as she swallowed another mouth full of her “Colossal” curly fries. Every year she looked forward to the county fair. She fished around the bottom of the paper cone for the remaining fries. Hard to believe she’d already eaten her way through a foot and a half of deep friend potatoes.

“Hey, girl,” a familiar voice called from behind her. Ingrid turned around to see Bobby Lee, her old high school classmate saunter up behind her. “Thought that was you,” he said wrapping an arm around her bare soft shoulders. “Girl whatcha been up to these day,” he asked. Ingrid smiled giving her doughy midsection a little pat, “eating.”

Bobby barked out a laugh. “No shit,” he replied. Compared to their high school days Ingrid was nearly double her size. “Girl, you ain’t that scrawny thing anymore,” he chuckled. She shrugged. “What can I say, life on my daddy’s farm is boring. Only thing to do is chores and eat.”

“Well, you look good, girl,” Bobby said giving her chubby upper arm a little pinch. “Ya hungry,” he asked with a grin. She nodded as she tossed the empty paper fry cone into the nearby trash can. “Always.”

Bobby extended his arm to her. She readily accepted his invitation and they continued towards the rows of food stalls. The smell of roasting meats and deep fat friers was filling the air. Ingrid was getting a little excited.

"Whatta 'bout you," she asked inclining her chin towards him. He smiled smugly. "Got myself a farm now," he said. She let out a low whistle. "Look at'chu. Mister big stuff, huh," she replied playfully. She could tell his ears were turning red.

"Got yourself a woman," Ingrid asked. He shook his head, before glancing down at her. "Nah. But I'm lookin'." Now it was her turn to blush. "So what are you lookin' for," she asked.

"I like girls who like to eat," he said.

"Good," she replied.
