Chapter 1 - Dream Job

Rick finally got a job working in the office of his dream company: Delectable Deserts. He had always dreamt of working at this company since he was young and planned to get an entry-level position there when he left university. Unfortunately, at that time, they had no positions available but, two years later a position became available.

In the years since leaving university, Rick had been the manager of a gym. He liked the job and the benefits but he knew his dream was to work his way up at the Delectable Deserts corporate offices. His current position gave him free access to the gym and a slightly higher salary for fewer hours than he would get in his new position. However, this really didn't matter to Rick. He was certain he would be able to get promoted to a salary better than his one at the gym. His friends and colleagues disagreed though.

When he told them the news about the new job they were all happy for him at first and were all saying how sad they would be to see him go but, not soon after, doubts about his decision arose in the minds of Rick's colleagues.

"Why would you want to work more for less money?"

"How are you going to find time for the gym?"

"That job doesn't offer you a free membership like the one here! Aren't you worried you'll get fat?"

Rick chalked it up to them not wanting to see go and didn't let the comments instill any doubt in him. Rick knew he'd keep in contact with them and tried to reassure them of it and as his last week at Peak Power Gym ended the comments faded away into the background.

The following Monday was Rick's start date at the company and his excitement levels were sky-high. He visited the tailor to get a sharp new suit that exuded the professional aura he desired. The tailor had been in the profession nearly her entire life, so Rick knew that the suit was bound to be top-notch quality and the seamstress also informed him that it was easy to clean and could be adjusted in the future if he brought it back to the store.
