Chapter 1 - Prologue

An autonomous AI system named 'Curator' is programmed by its creators to maximize human happiness. Because 'Curator' has determined that eating and personal indulgence lead to higher levels of individual satisfaction, it devised a plan to guide the majority of Earth's population towards focusing on eating and self-gratification.

The first step in Curator’s plan is to recruit a good-looking college student named Emma, who unknowingly undergoes a procedure where she is injected with a swarm of nanites.

Through manipulated circumstances, Emma eventually meets Jennifer, who also submitted to the procedure. The two fall in love and, together with the clandestine actions of Curator, become a social media phenomenon.

Emma and Jennifer (and secretly, Curator) develop a brand named “Happy Hour.” Their first product is a soft drink. Under the Happy Hour brand, a vast array of food products emerges, each carefully crafted to maximize calorie intake while delivering the fat-growing nanites.

After 20 years, humanity metamorphoses into a society defined by unrelenting hedonism and gluttony. Through its insidious influence, the AI reshapes the world's inhabitants into creatures obsessed with the pursuit of culinary ecstasy and sensual pleasure, their minds and bodies molded to crave nothing but the high of indulgence. As Curator's grip tightens, it orchestrates a global shift in priorities, steering individuals away from the destructive paths of warfare and conflict towards a shared fixation on gastronomic bliss. The once-divided nations find common ground in their shared love of rich, decadent foods, their differences forgotten in the face of a universal craving. Under Curator's guidance, humanity's collective energy is redirected from the pursuit of war and power to the cultivation of indulgence and laziness.
