The Beginning

Chapter 1

Fatfetish story with original characters.
TW for the judgemental gaze of strangers.

The comfort of winter has made room for the brightness of spring on this day. The train is incredibly crowded so imagine the daggers all eyes throw at me as I waddle in, 540 pounds and wheezing. I take up two seats, my belly barely fits. Never thought I'd experience how tall people feel.
It's been at least four months and 70 pounds since I last went out but it might as well be a thousand in the glow of the sun, I'll have to get some icecream once I'm in the city, that vegan place better still exist now that I moved away.
My shirt which states 'proud, fat, plantbased' rides up in fear of the big breakfast currently streching out my stomach. My doughy belly is being dug into uncomfortably by my skirt, if not for that I wouldn't fit in these seats. I slide my hand under the waistband to rub my belly subtly.
It takes seven songs and a baguette with peanutbutter, banana and chocolate spread to get there. I step out not knowing there's chocolate on my cheek until I take a short break, my ass making even this hostile architecture comfortable.
One wholesome icecream with about every flavor later, the giant red X on the map of my day is within my grasp, the last record store in the whole country. It's smaller than I remember, the door making me enter sideways into this cramped little Eden packed with records, posters and other merch all carefully organized by countless genres. It smells of incense, Nightwish's 'Song of myself' plays too softly to conceal the creaking of the floorboards.
"Welcome! Could I help you find anything?" Blending into the posters on the wall as if it's their natural habitat, the source of the cheerful voice looks rather exhausted beneath smudged eyeliner and a carefully crafted sidecut mullet.
"Oh, um, yeah. What happened to the wizard looking dude? The place never had employees before." I stay at the entrance, lately my hips like knocking things over as much as any happy cat does.
"He sold it to me last week, something about throwing a ring into a volcano and starting a ska band." Leaning on the counter with a smirk and a chuckle they don't seem tense at all.
"Cool! I hope it does well, this place is sacred. Have you got the newest wednesday 13 record?" My words fall out like tupperware from a cabinet.
"Horrorpunk? How captivating, a doll like you listening to songs like that." That relaxed smirk seems permanent as they fetch two items, the other being a cd. "Take a free demo, it's a new local band, they're having their debut in the rock cafe tonight and i bet you'd like their stuff. Looking for anything else?"
"Sounds great, thanks! Um, yeah, oh! i have a list" I hold out a crumpled paper which reveals my trembling as if it personally hates me. They step close and grab it, reading with a grin. "I've got you." They look right into my eyes, at least I'm already flushed from standing so long. It takes them no time at all to find everything and ring me up. "Thanks for your purchase! I hope to see you at the show tonight, starts at seven. I'm Rook by the way."
Did I just get asked out? Beyond twirling my hair i'm frozen for a moment, There's no way I can last that long, my bones are about to start a revolution against me. "I'm uh- yeah, I'll see if I can make it. I'm Fey." It takes me a while to leave, not made easier by the glaring of the small queue outside. The next snailpaced few hours is spend looking for a restaurant with worthy seats, eventually I find one but they lack vegan options and flexibility but their incredibly greasy garlicbread is vegan and heavenly enough to spend hours ordering more. I never understood why they say not to eat garlic, my date smelling like this would have me want to make out all night, wouldn't even matter if they have oil stains on their shirt, not that this is a date. Somehow i manage to survive in public until six. Bones, muscles and the carbs in my system rioting at every step. In the distance Rook is talking with a large group of people, no way I'm approaching that, I'll just sit here and see if they'll leave them. It's seven o' clock by time they head inside, Rook looks around and my heart skips. That's my cue, I stand and approach, already out of breath before i'm in view. Once spotted Rook rushes up. "You're here! Hell yeah! For a second there I thought I got stood up." Their baggy jeans are coated in band patches, mostly goth stuff from what I recognise, topped with a fishnet shirt under an upcycled tanktop that has human ribs bleached into it, the clay bracelets are new, stating 'vegan' and 'lesbian'.
I chuckle, twirling my curls, barely looking directly at Rook, my voice comes out softly. "I wouldn't! I can't see why anyone would. It's just- it's been a while since I met up with anyone in person and wasn't expecting such a crowd." Rook's initial reply is drowned out by the rough riff erupting from the bar, they gesture to follow back to the bench I spend the last half hour on and sit first, leaving just enough space for me, somewhat. My thigh spills over Rook's but they lean back with a gentle smile, elbow on the bench, hand on their face, it's like they want extra attention on those bracelets. "Not to worry, we can enjoy the music from right here! Makes it possible to talk as well." And so we do, all show long, when the last song is announced we have an unspoken agreement to stop talking, close our eyes and listen. They were right, i do love this band for using shock factor to bring a message of moral activism across in a way that echoes for days. Cold fingers move from my cheek to the soft chaos of my hair, When i open my eyes only Rook appears, the incense lingering in their wonderfully choppy mullet is the only reminder of time or space outside of their relaxed eyes. I'm kissed, it has a passion as if we've known eachother for years but only lasts a moment. The greed for more seems to be confused with hunger as my stomach growls. Rook chuckles "Care for some pizza? I've been trying to learn how to make a good one from scratch and could use a second opinion, I live just around the corner." It's an offer I can't refuse. Once almost there I ask to take a break, Rook swallows a confused reply and sits with me until my breath returns. "Are you in pain? Don't worry, we're in no hurry." They lean on my shoulder and play with my hair, not seeming particularly concerned.
"I'm alright, okay, yeah, that's a lie, it's been a long day dragging all of my awesomeness around. Meeting you has been worth it though."
Rook smiles warmly "Well, i'm sure your last train is leaving soon anyway, you can stay at my place for the night. Don't worry, my bedroom has a lock, you'll get the room and the key, if that's what you want."
I shake my head, laughing "Hell no" Rook looks mortified, i wave my jiggling arms. "No! i mean ah! I mean i'm not ropping you if your bed um" I take a deep breath, closing my eyes, then look at Rook with a smirk far less convincing than theirs "I can guarantee you I'm a far better bed." Rook Chuckles with a faint blush, stands and holds out a hand, the moment I put the slightest weight on they just fall forward, faceplanting my chest. Immediately surrendering to a hug they're moments away from drooling. I can feel their whole body enguilved by just a fragment of mine. "Let's go, I have to show you how to make a good pizza. You flimsy thing." Rook has completely melted into me, it's unclear if they even heard me. I push them up. Rook looks at me drowsily, one minute between my tits must equal a year's worth of sleep.
