The swimmers

chapter 4: working out

Before I knew it my alarm was ringing, and it was 8 o’clock. No morning workout for me! Fortunately, I still had no appetite after my Sunday binge. I went to work, and really enjoyed solving some problems in the software. One of the perks of working in tech is that often the company orders free lunch, and today was Burger King. The PA ordered me a Double Whopper with Cheese, Fries, a Coke and a large Oreo Milkshake. I told her that this was too much food, but she said I was a big athletic guy and did not want me to go hungry. Admittedly the burger tasted great, and who does not like fries? I put the milkshake in the freezer, and did not think about it again until the air conditioning turned off at five. A nice cold beverage sounded great, and I was a little hungry.

Of course around the time I finished the milkshake, one of the guys dropped by my desk and asked if I wanted to join for happy hour at Outback Steakhouse. One beer became three, and the four of us finished off a Blooming Onion and Aussie Cheese fries. Meg texted me and asked if I wanted to join her at Knott’s for dinner. Of course I said yes, and drove there. We hung out, and I had a Mac & Cheese with fruit. Meg ordered a Caesar salad, and encouraged me to eat the cheese bread. I was exhausted by the time we made it home, and fell asleep on the couch watching the end of the ten o’clock news. I woke up with my alarm clock the next morning, and this time had some Malt-O-Meal cereal with my milk.

The rest of the week continued much the same way, every day the PA would buy more lunch than I really wanted, and every day I’d ultimately finish whatever she chose for me. Before I knew it Friday was there and everyone worked a half-day. It was beautiful and warm, so I decided to head to the water park. I ordered a Macaroni & Cheese, and then had a cotton candy of course all washed down with a couple refills of soda. I dozed off after lunch, only to have my phone buzz and wake me around five o’clock. Sounds like the apartment crew was already at the pool and Ed was wondering why I was still at work. I told him a white lie, and said I was heading home shortly. Everyone was drinking by the pool, and I was excited to hang out. This weekend continued much like the last, and before I knew it the alarm was buzzing for me to head to work at 8 o’clock on Monday.

You have no idea how accurate this story is to me. I was a swimmer until I dropped it in college and just blimped up. Almost 350lbs now and hoping to get fat fat fat

Mental metric conversion? I can't get over the part where In N Out sells breakfast burritos and hash browns! I've never seen so many references to California so clearly envisioned by a European.
