Starving

Chapter 1 - Trapped

While out walking one day John stumbled upon an old well. Literally. It had been covered up with boards that had since grown rotten and by the time John stepped on to the cover there was nothing he could do. It cracked and he fell down with no way of stopping himself breaking his arm on the way down. He tried to climb out again but the rocks were coated with slippy algæ and with his arm the way it was there just no way that he was making it out of this well without help.

John wasn't worried there were people that knew he was out walking and he had plans this evening so eventualy sonebody would realise he was gone. It was just a matter of time untill he was found he only wished he had brought his phone out with him.

The days passed and John thought he would have been found by now but alas he hadn't. He was  thirsty and had resorted to drinking the maybe 10cm (4in) deep puddle of water at the bottom of the well but he was hungry and had no food with him. His hunger grew quite significant during his wait and, although it may be just his imagination, John felt as though the more of the well water he drank the worse his hunger got.

John began to loose track of time and as his body used up his fat reserves he became malnourished and thin. Then one evening a light shone down the well and he shouted. Help had finally arrived after what felt like an etternaty spent sitting in this well.

A member of the search and rescue team lowered into the well and strapped John into a harness before pulling him out of the well. Once out he was placed onto a strech and wheeled across the fell to when an ambulance was waiting. It took him to a hospital where his arm was set in a cast and he was given some food but it did nothing to sate and then after being given the all clear he was took home and John felt a sense of relief wash over him as crossed the threshold and shut the door to his house.
