Growing on love

chapter 2 part 2

"Oh there you are Madame Marvin; we have your order ready to go." The host said as I came in.

"Busy day in here today isn't it Pierre?" I said.

"Oui Madame; it 'tis quite busy."

"I'm glad it's doing well, Darius would never recover if he lost your wonderful cakes."

"Do you need help putting it in zee car?" Pierre asked.

"Yes, maybe. It's a very big one this time he wanted isn't it?" I replied.

"Oui Madame."

The cake was indeed massive; four layers of angel food cake with heavy raspberry cream filling; smothered with a thick, rich layer of chocolate fondant. Darius really knew how to pick the most fattening things on the menu, and I couldn't be more proud. Once the cake was set down on the floor of the limo, we headed to the equipment store next. The cake was too tall to fit in the trunk so it had to be in the cabin with me, though it did limit the space I had to move around in. I bought Darius a heavy duty walker with sturdy wheels and a titanium frame. I also purchased four motor-assist bands for his arms and legs. They would help to stimulate his muscles to make them strong enough to carry his weight around. And the walker; was for his belly to sit on, he always had the most blubber build up on his belly area. It slapped against his legs when he walked making him slow and causing him more strain to lift, the walker was so he could rest it on there and have his legs free to keep him moving. I also had bought two titanium grab bars for the Jacuzzi tub that we had put in the ensuite for him to bathe in. It was big enough for eight people to sit in, and I knew he'd take up three-quarters of that eventually. The last quarter of the Jacuzzi was for me to get in with him, someone had to make sure he got clean everywhere, every fold and roll had to be cleaned and he couldn't reach half of them.

I sighed contentedly as I imagined him getting so big and soft like that, rolls and rolls of delicious blubber spreading all over his body, feeling him relax once he was finally full enough and cuddling up nice and close at night. I opened the window just to let the heat out at the thought. There was one thing that he still mentioned from time to time, he did want another baby and so far nothing was taking. I hated to think he was getting too fat for that and somehow all that blubber I loved on him was taking away his ability to produce a child. There were options however we could both get tested for fertility issues, but that might mean he'd have to leave the house. I was willing to do it but I wasn't sure if he wanted to be seen out in public. Last time we were out he only weighed 390 pounds, now he was well over 500. What if the media did get wind of his weight gain and they blew his cover? I worried about his image as a leader in the business world if that came out. Darius had planned for that possibility, but I still wanted to protect him. No, there had to be other options that didn't involve him leaving the house and I was going to look into them. James pulled into the parking lot of the medical equipment store. I had to put aside my thought train for the moment.

It looked empty, so I could probably get in and out quickly. Once James parked the limo, I fished out my receipt for the order; a sudden gust of wind blew it out of my hand. I grabbed for it and missed. Luckily a woman was coming out of the store next door and she caught it for me.

"Thank you, I really needed that." I said.

She was petite, about 5 ft. 4 or so with shiny well-kept blond hair and blue eyes, she read the name on the receipt and stared at me incredulously.

"Laura Marvin; an order for one walker, two titanium grab bars and four motor-assist bands so...you're the one who took my place." She said icily.

"Excuse me?" I said, snatching the paper back from her.

"It looks like the fat pig got even fatter since I left him; probably drowning his sorrow in the trough."

"Who do you think you are talking like that?" I snapped.

"Claire Van Burg; I used to be married to the fat pig. I left him because he disgusted me." Claire replied.

"Oh really? And here I thought he divorced your cheating ass and left you empty handed." I said.

She turned three shades of red; "l divorced HIM!!" She yelled.

"That's not what the papers said."

"Watch it bitch; you have no idea who you're messing with..." Claire threatened.

"Is there a problem here ladies?" A police officer came up to us after being drawn by the commotion.

"No, of course not officer; we're just having a little chit-chat." Claire said sweetly, fluttering her eyelashes at the officer.

"Is that so?" He said.

He looked at me; I just shrugged. Claire fumed beside me.

"Nice talking to you darling, ta-ta." Claire said before flouncing off towards another limo parked across the way.

The officer knew who I was and who Claire was. He heard every little thing Claire said and being slightly big himself, he was impressed with how I kept my cool.

"Mrs. Marvin, you handled that with dignity and grace; I'm impressed." He said.

"She wasn't worth provoking; I see your precinct has done well with my husband's donation. How are things?" I said.

"Very well, we certainly have made good use of the money. Your husband's charity is well known around this city, he is a wonderful man."

"Well, it's the least we can do. If only more of the city's elite upper crust donated to help out the city that keeps them all safe and sound, we'd all be better off."

"If only. Well, take care enjoy the rest of your day Mrs. Marvin." He said.

"Thank you, you too as well officer." I replied.

With that slight interruption taken care of, I headed into the store to pick up my order. From the limo across the street Claire watched jealously. Her new husband who was in the car with her tried his best not to look overly bored and tired of her petty jealousy; he happened to think Darius had the right idea with donating to the city's public service sectors. It always made you look better to the masses that way. And his wife was pretty good looking herself...he was jealous of the man for landing such a beautiful woman.

"Who does that bitch think she is talking to me like that? Does she have no idea what my family could do to her??" Claire said angrily.

"I doubt she cares one way or the other." Her husband said; with his Mediterranean accent evident in his voice.

"I'll ruin her if it's last thing I do, no one talks to a Van Burg like that."

He rolled his eyes; if it weren't for the benefits of marrying into the prestigious Van Burg family, he'd happily be elsewhere. His wife was a bitter, jealous harpy and he hated her for it. Marvin had not been seen in public in nearly two years, speculation was running rampant about why that was but no one could get a scoop on it; Marvin chose his people very well and not a single one would talk to the media about their employer. There was however a charity ball coming up soon that would demand he make a presence at. Giving two million dollars away to the hospital and police precinct was a good way to draw attention to one. Upper class societal rules dictate that you must occasionally be seen in public appearances to avoid damaging rumours of become a recluse. Darius Marvin would know that better than anyone.
