High Mage Cassiopeia Astrose measured her absolute worth by the meticulous containment of her flesh. To her, magic was an art form of razor-sharp, immaculate precision, and her body was its most sacred, ruthlessly disciplined canvas. While the lesser orders-the crude battle mages and the sweaty, soot-stained earth shapers-gorged themselves on heavy stews and roasted meats in the Great Refectory, Cassiopeia survived on an ethereal regime of distilled star-fruit elixirs, frozen dew drops, and ritualistic fasting that would have driven an ordinary mortal to collapse.

She took a cold, malicious pride in her hunger. Hunger was a sharp blade; it kept her mind clear, her instincts lethal, and her waistline legendary.

Every morning, the ritual of her presentation began long before the sun cleared the obsidian spires of the Citadel. Three quiet, submissive handmaidens worked in perfect, rhythmic synchronization to construct the monument that was the Lady Astrose. First came the undergarments of stiff, unyielding canvas, followed by a bespoke corset reinforced with slats of rigid dragon-bone. Cassiopeia would grip the heavy posts of her canopy bed, holding her breath, her chest rising high as her mages pulled the silken laces with all their combined weight.

She watched in the floor-length mirror with obsessive, hyper-critical focus as her waist was cinched down, millimeter by agonizing millimeter, until her midsection was a flawless, impossibly narrow reed.

To Cassiopeia, a flat stomach was the ultimate display of aristocratic dominance. It proved she possessed an iron will that could bend even her own anatomy to her whim. Softness was a disease of the weak-willed; thickness was a grotesque failure of discipline. Once the corset was secured, her midnight-blue ceremonial robes-woven from starlight silk that cost more than a coastal village's annual taxes-were draped over her sharp hips. The dress was custom-tailored to cling flat against her abdomen with a terrifyingly beautiful, unforgiving precision. A neat, geometric row of thirty-two solid silver buttons ran down the exact centerline of her torso, from her throat down to her pelvis, without a single ripple or fold in the fabric to suggest anything as vulgar as human organs existed beneath.

As her head maiden fastened the final silver clasp at her throat, Cassiopeia offered her reflection a small, aloof smirk. She smoothed her slender hands over her perfectly concave belly, entirely satisfied. She was an immortal sculpture of silk and bone, a vision of pristine, untouchable perfection. She had spent her entire life cultivating this precise, svelte image, making herself a symbol of elite, unyielding mastery.

When she walked through the sprawling, vaulted corridors of the high tier, other mages stepped aside, as much in awe of her devastating grace as they were of her immense intellectual prowess. She knew exactly what she was: the most beautiful, disciplined weaver of magic the realm had ever produced. And she was utterly convinced that nothing in this world, or the heavens above, could ever force her to surrender that perfect, narrow silhouette."

The Arch-Mage Astronomers have finalized the transit calculations, My Lady," her head maiden whispered, backing away with a low bow. "The High Council requests your immediate presence in the Hall of Vessels."

Cassiopeia adjusted her diamond-encrusted cuffs in the mirror, offering her reflection a final, satisfied glance. "Then let us not keep them waiting."
