Chapter 5 - rumours

Jimmy felt the butterflies filling his stomach as he saw Chelsea striding into the lecture theatre the next morning. He waved, expecting the beautiful girl to sit with her usual crowd, but was surprise as Chelsea starting making her way towards him instead.

“Morning!” she grinned, as she sat down and gave Jimmy a peck on his cheek, just as she had done last night. The girl clearly didn’t care who saw and Jimmy felt his status suddenly double as he was seen to be getting this sort of attention from arguably the hottest girl in the entire college. “Did you sleep well last night?”

“I did,” Jimmy nodded. “I bet you didn’t, though,” he sympathised. “I’m sure your stomach was grumbling all night after all that ice cream!”

Chelsea shrugged nonchalantly, “I was fine. I told you, I’m well used to eating like that. She lifted up her blouse a little to reveal her belly button and an obviously bloated stomach. “I even fried up a few treats for breakfast before I headed out this morning,” she boasted.

Jimmy laughed. “You’re such a glutton!” he tutted playfully.

“Yeah, you bet I am!” Chelsea grinned back, rubbing her hand excitedly down Jimmy’s thigh.

Then, just like that, Jimmy knew that he wasn’t going to be able to concentrate at all again today. He had just reached Cloud Nine.

However, not everyone seemed to be as pleased as he was. “Are you and Chelsea dating?” Paul whispered, heading over to Jimmy in the library that afternoon. “There’s some rumour going around that she kissed you in class.”

Jimmy blushed. He’d never been the subject of campus gossip before. “Well, I don’t know whether we’re dating, or not,” he mumbled. “I only spoke to her properly for the first time yesterday. I really like her though.”

“You remember what I told you about her, don’t you?” Paul pressed. “If you speak to some of the other guys she’s dated, you’ll find that they all got the same weird vibes from her.”

Jimmy felt conflicted. It seemed as if Paul wanted him to explain himself and why he was going against his supposed advice. On the other hand, he’d never felt so delighted in anyone’s company as he had been in Chelsea’s last night. Something seemed to snap in him. “It’s my love life!” he spat impatiently. “If I want to date Chelsea, then I will!”

Paul raised his palms and backed off slightly. “Alright,” he mumbled, clearly caught off guard by Jimmy’s tone. “Just don’t say I didn’t warn you.”
