Chapter 2 - sylvia has a plan

Sylvia was sprawled on the couch in the living room, lying on her face. She had apparently been crying, but quickly she got up and moved toward me with great anger and passion, screaming and flailing her arms. I felt certain she was about to slap me or slug me in the stomach. I felt I deserved whatever she did to me. I braced myself for a punch which never came.

Sylvia was like one of the Furies of ancient mythology, all madness and noise. I had never seen her so angry. She screamed so loudly, I could barely think. She growled like a wild beast, and the words poured out of her.

"Where were you?" she screamed. "You smell like booze and sex! Who have you been screwing now, Anthony? Lipstick on your shirt! I knew it, I knew it, I knew it when you didn't come home on time."

Hell hath no fury like a scorned women, right?

"I love you," I said weakly. "I am sorry. Believe me. This is the first time I have ever done anything like this."

She looked directly at me with an accusatory unblinking stare. Finally, tears filled her bloodshot eyes, and an angry expression reddened her face. She looked away from me in disgust.

"I promise it will never happen again," I said. "I will do anything, ANYTHING to make it up to you."

Silently, Sylvia collected herself as best she could. She stood and started to leave. I grabbed onto her arm, and she gave me a look which could melt stone.

"Let go of me," she said coldly, and I obeyed. "Don't you touch me again with those hands."

In the next moment, she slammed the front door behind her, and I heard the tires on her SVU squeal as she roared away down the road.

I thought about chasing after her, but suddenly I felt exhausted, so tired. I collapsed on the couch and started to cry. I cried for what seemed like hours, until I had no more tears. Thinking I had seen my lovely wife for the last time, my world spun and burred.

But I was wrong. It was not the last time I would see my lovely wife. Soon, I heard the door open, and there she was. I felt overjoyed to see my Sylvia again.

I started to speak, to spew out more apologies, but she roughly placed her finger on my lips. "Shush! I need to say something."

I nodded my head and stayed silent.

"You have betrayed me, just like my other son-of-a-bitch husband did. You say that you love me. Do you mean it?"

I nodded silently.

"Right now, I wonder if I still love you," Sylvia said. "I wonder if I ever loved you. Or if I was just infatuated with how handsome you are, your sexy smile and eyes, and your fit body. Maybe it was a mistake for me to marry such a seductive hot man as you."

I misread her words. I started to smile and wink at her, thinking all this a bit humorous, but I quickly saw Sylvia was in no mood for my charm or "bedroom eyes" or natural flirting ways. I remained silent, looking her right in the eye, keeping my natural flirtation under control.

"Did you mean what you said when you said you would do ANYTHING it took to make it up to me?" she asked.

"Yes, yes," I replied, eagerly trying to convince her.

"You promise?" she asked.

"Yes, of course." I agreed, feeling relief and breathing a bit deeply.

"Then, I am going to make it so other women do not find you so desirable," she announced.

"What?" I said incredulously.

"You heard me. I am going to make you very, very fat, Anthony," she proclaimed, her voice quivering a bit as if she were afraid of her own words. "Now into the bedroom with you."
