Chapter 1 - profiling

Holly only went in the first place because she’d won some sort of runner-up prize in a competition; a free psychological profiling to match her up with one of the bots, along with ten free sessions. Ten! It was an unbelievable prize, considering the cost of all of this.

Usually, this sort of pastime was a hobby for people with a much higher salary than her own. As a design, the androids had really come along in the last few years. They’d ironed out the creases. You could walk past one in the street and not realise. Still, the idea of having sex with one still unnerved her.

A doctor was there for the appointment. Holly hardly understood why, she’d had a chip inserted through work and all the doctor really had to do, was to simply plug her into the system.

“If you just click on the screen to give your consent to the following options,” she smiled, passing over the glass tablet computer to Holly. “We recommend that you accept all of them,” she advised her.

Nervously, Holly waded through the permissions, fingerprinting her consent to all manner of sexual escapades. “What’s this 'date purchases' option?” she asked, seeing that she needed to enter in credit card details.

“It allows your date to buy you little gifts and things they know you will like,” the doctor explained. “You can set the limit, of course. Most clients have a $500 maximum for each date,” she suggested.

Holly couldn’t help her eyes widening. She had enough issues managing her own finances each month, without a robot spending all of her spare cash; hastily hitting the ‘decline’ option.

“The computer is just gathering all of the data it needs,” the doctor smiled as they both waited awkwardly for it all to download.

“How long will it take for me to be matched up to one of the dates?” Holly asked. She already knew the answer, but it filled the silence anyway.

“Instantly!” the doctor marvelled. “You can start booking in right away.”

The computer screen displayed the upload as it trickled up: forty-five percent complete; sixty percent. It was surprisingly fast considering the amount of data it was trying to gather. Then, all of a sudden, it stated decisively that the profile was one hundred percent complete.

“So, who have I matched up with?” Holly asked eagerly, unplugging herself and shifting to be more upright in the chair so that she could look at the doctor’s screen more easily. She’d been imaging this all week, since she’d first been informed of her prize. The androids came in so many different shapes and sizes. Which one did the computer feel she would be most attracted to?

“Let’s just click here,” the doctor narrated, swiping across her screen. “Ah! This is it!” Her voice seemed to dip slightly and she suddenly became a little less enthusiastic. “Oh, it’s… Rex,” she mumbled. “You’ve matched up with Rex.” She turned to look at her, as if seeing Holly in a completely new light.

Feeling a little judged, Holly squirmed slightly. “Can I see a picture of him?” she asked.

With the touch of a tab, the screen filled with the image of the most beautiful man Holly had ever seen. Strong and built like a superhero, his statistics below told an interesting tale: 6’7 and 255lbs of muscle; or what looked like muscle, under his perfect skin. His eyes were dark and brooding, with a fixed look to his handsome jawline. His hair was long and dark, trailing down his back. It suited him, considering the vast width of his powerful shoulders; the biggest and most handsome hunk Holly had ever seen.

“Not many people match with Rex,” the doctor stated, as if to explain her earlier hesitation. “He’s been designed to be a little more sexually dominant and imposing of the F80 android range.”

“Does that mean he’s free this evening?” Holly asked hopefully, liking the sound of this guy already.

The doctor pressed some more tabs. “Yes,” she nodded. “He’s free all week.”
