Chapter 1 - Prologue

Listen to this chapter - just press play:
For most of her life, Iris has had a rather intricate connection with the spiritual realm. Perhaps partially thanks to the fact that her parents are pagans, she was able to understand and embrace this ability from a young age, despite all the struggles that came from such an ability.

At first, it was just how long it took her to recognize the difference between a spirit and someone alive. It definitely caused more than one awkward situation at school, talking to students and teachers who weren't there. Iris even accidentally spooked her principal once when she name dropped a teacher that had been dead for 10 years as the one to have sent her to his office for a dress code violation.

But around middle school, as her abilities continued to grow even stronger, Iris discovered something new about herself - she was fairly easy to possess.

The first time it happened, she didn't know what was happening. One moment, she was taking a math test, and the next, Iris was being scolded by her teacher for all the scribbles on her test paper she didn’t remember making. It would take a few days to realize that there were a couple child spirits that clung to her teacher and loved causing chaos anywhere they could.

With the help of her Wiccan father, Iris managed to learn how to set up a barrier around her body to protect herself from such possessions. The only downside is that for best results, she had to set it up on every full moon. If she ever missed it, she would have to remember to renew the barrier every few days before the next one.

As the years passed and her powers only continued to increase, Iris came into adulthood as a spiritual witch with a bombshell body. Which only made it more dangerous if she didn't keep up with her barrier, as there were quite a few malicious spirits that would perform dangerous acts with her body and/or abilities if she wasn't careful.

Little did Iris know, she was going to no longer have to worry about this pretty soon, thanks in part to a little friend she met. Though, the side effects of their friendship were definitely not one she would have expected.
