Listen to this chapter - just press play:
Ian is Gabby’s father. While Gabby and Shane were living in Ohio, Ian was living in a town near Mobile, Alabama. The night of her fight with gabby, she called her dad and woke him up. She waited a few hours and talked to her friends and cool down before telling her dad. He was her pride and inspiration and she loved him more than she has ever loved any of her boyfriends.
While she was 5’5 150, Shane was 5’10 165 and muscular and spent lots of time at the gym instead of with Gabby, most likely to swoon her and convince and persuade her to join him and get fit. But she never did.. Ian on the other hand he was 6’0 270 and while he had a giant beer gut, he was very muscular on his arms and legs. He was a chubby muscle bear. He was in his mid 50s, a former Army medic and fought in Afghanistan not long before He lost Gabbys mother.
Once he lost Gabbys mother, he protected Gabby at all costs, and made sure every guy knew what would happen if they broke his little girl's heart. She never should have moved up north, then Shane would have met her dad whether by choice or by force.
Ian’s phone rings, with a picture of Gabby at her college graduation, smiling holding her diploma. With a nickname that said My Beautiful Daughter. It rang a few times but she had a special ringtone that Ian set just for her, so he would never miss her calls. It was set as A Thousand Years by Christina Perri.
It took about three rings for Ian to wake up enough to grab his glasses and pick up his phone to see the time. “It’s 10:30, why is she calling right now, what happened?” Ian said to himself before answering.
“Wait… he did what?” Ian said before he could fully comprehend, and Gabby repeated herself

“ Dad, I broke up with Shane. He said I was too fat for him to meet my family. I just wanted him to meet you and he said that and that unless I start losing weight I’m not marriage material and I lost it and threw him out and we are done. Am I really that fat that I wouldn’t look good in a wedding dress?”

He sniffled a little bit, hurt that someone could say things like this and make his daughter feel this way. “ Baby girl, you are perfect the way you are. If he doesn’t see that, then he doesn’t deserve you anyway.” Ian said. He was so angry, he was going to teach that boy some manners.
“ I’m gonna fly up there for a couple of days, maybe get a hotel for a week or two. Would that be okay with you, I can’t stand to be this far away and have you be so upset” Ian spoke so gently, he couldn’t show emotion and let his daughter think she upset him.
“That’s fine, I would never say no to seeing you, I’ve been missing you anyways. Text me all the flight info and I’ll see you when I see you. “ gabby said excitedly, almost as if her dad coming out to see her made her forget about Shane.

They spoke a bit longer and after Ian got off the phone, he could not sleep. He was plotting. He bought a few things and booked hotels and flights. He was leaving in the morning and Shane was going to regret calling his daughter fat.
