Chapter 1 - The end
I have always been someone who likes to be prepared. I never expected anything to go wrong but I was always ready nonetheless. Part of my preparedness lies hidden behind a bookshelf in the basement. Everyone I knew thought it was excessive but then it happened. As soon as I heard the news report I ran inside and sealed the door.Behind the bookcase was a staircase that spiralled downwards several meters then after a secondary door was the bunker. It's nothing fancy just a sofa bed, a shower, and a tap that is connected to a tank storing enough liquid nutrients to last 80 people 800 years.
The first thing I did was shower to decontaminate myself from anything I could be carrying on me then I disposed of my contaminated clothes and slipped into a simple, comfortable jumpsuit. Sitting down I am left to wonder: what should I do now?
The first week in the bunker I laid in bed just staring at the walls with nothing better to do then by week two I could feel the boredom starting to make me unravel and to try and stop myself from losing it I began to think of contraptions I can make to pass the time. The bunker was totally automatic the only thing to do was take care of myself: eat. The bunker didn't even have a toilet. The nutrients are designed to be absorbed by the body and used completely as energy or stored as fat - no waste.
