This story will be written almost, if not, entirely in the first person perspective of the Protagonist. It is an unfolded and detailed version of a free short story I have available named “January Second.” With a twist. The original story is from the POV of Eva, this story is from the POV of Ted.
January 2nd, 20007
Ted looked at himself in the mirror and said “Day one at the new job I was just put in charge of managing this complex. With how unusual it is for me to be for me to be promoted from the complex's resident handyman to General manager. I have to be completely attentive to each new resident and their needs. But, I was still the complex handyman, so when I noticed that a light bulb was burnt out in the back room I went back to replace it. When I’d finished and stepped back into the front office I saw young woman sitting silently in a seat at the front desk. As I walked up to her I took a quick look at her
The woman sat in the office, in front of the desk. She had sandy blonde hair and blue eyes. She was kind of chubby, but not excessively so. The woman had, was that a pizza box in her lap? Why did she bring that here? Whatever. “Hello ma’am how may I help you?” I said as I sat across from her at the front desk. I didn’t recognize her as a tenant, so she’ll probably either ask about moving in or have some sort of complaint. The woman swallowed the bite of pizza that she apparently had in her mouth. Then she said “Umm, sorry, but I’m doing some info gathering toward getting a new place.” Then took another bite of her pizza. I began explaining the process of signing up for a room and the girl ate her slice of pizza as I spoke. I don’t know why, but something about her was just adorable. Like, it wasn’t sexy per se, but it was definitely attractive. I wanted to spend more time with her. She was just the kind of cute that makes you want to smile. She started blushing as I spoke and practically shoved the rest of her pizza into her mouth. I can’t put a finger on why exactly, but I felt, I don’t know, excited? Like, she had that adorable kind of embarrassed vibe that just makes me want to hug her. I tried to clear my head and she took another bite. The pizza’s cheese stretched rather than being bitten off and she practically shoved the slice into her mouth to catch the string of cheese something about the way she ate, it was special. Like, I’ve always been attracted to girls, umm, you know, eating. But it’s not anything weird, nothing crazy. I just like big girls, so I like watching women eat, and get bigger. By the time I had finished explaining the sign up process she’d finished the slice. The woman held out a hand to shake and said “Hi, my name is Eva, it’s a pleasure to make your acquaintance.” Then licked her lips as I shook her hand and said “I’m shopping around, but so far this place is the top of my list. I got your number from the door and will call you back if I choose to stay here.” She got up and waved, obviously so nervous that she wasn’t thinking straight. I saw her open the door and step outside, then she took another slice out of her pizza box. It was the last thing I saw before the door closed.
One other prospective tenant showed up that day, and I had to repair a broken sprinkler head. But as I drove home all I could think of was that Eva girl. When the work day was over I made a frozen personal pizza in my room. I couldn’t stop imagining Eva as I ate.
January 2nd 2008
I spent the next few days thinking about Eva, and the next few nights dreaming about her. Why does every little thing she does make me smile? I’ve never fallen for someone so hard with such a brief meeting. Hell, I never have at all. My dreams (sometimes literal ones) came true when, about a week later, Eva returned and actually rented a room. I tried to remain professional, but had butterflies in my stomach the whole time she was here. I spoke with Eva every chance I got. I was always nice to her without even thinking about it. I’d watch her whenever I noticed her around the complex. I even wanted to go to her room and give her gifts, but decided that was a bit too creepy and would only scare her off, so I continued to do nothing but sigh longingly every time I thought about her.
Until one day it hit me. It’s been a year to the day since I met her. If I don’t shoot my shot today I never will. So, I thought about what she likes to ask her on a date. Fricking hell. The only thing I know that isn’t learned by creepy mini stalking is that she likes pizza and that she eats when she’s nervous. Well, I’d love to see her eat again anyway, and going out to eat is a standard first date too. So, when I saw Eve walking across the courtyard of the complex in a tight little sundress and a cheesy pointed hat that had “Happy Birthday!” written on it I went up to her and just asked. “Hey Eve.” I said nervously. She turned to face me. Her smile made me want to do the same, every time I saw it. God she was pretty, no, don’t get distracted Ted. You’re in a mission! So I just spat it out. “Do you want to go out tonight. There’s a new buffet in town that might be nice to try, my treat.” Eve bit her cheek slightly in nervousness. She said “Oh courses! I mean, of course!” I don’t know why, but even her little word bungle made me want to hug her. “So, where is this new buffet? And when? Oh! And do they have pizza?” I felt like a thousand pound weight was lifted from my shoulder by her saying yes.
I honestly don’t remember the rest of the afternoon after Eve and I said our goodbyes. But every second of that evening at the buffet will be forever burnt into my memory. I got out of my car in the parking lot and walked up to the door, rehearsing what I’d say to myself, “So, it’s your birthday?” I shook my head, no, “How long have you been in town?” No, not that. I think I went over a thousand intro lines before going inside the buffet. Even to so that I had to tell myself that, if I’m late then she may be unhappy. So I opened the door to see Eve in the lobby of the “Townhouse Buffet.” The name was an obvious knockoff of the Hometown Buffet. But it smelled good in here, and that’s a good sign. Eve waved and said “Hi Ted!” she was blushing again. Either she’s extremely bashful and shy, or she just had red cheeks all the time. I thought to myself. Maybe both.
We chat as we ate. Well, I talked a lot anyway. God, I need to learn to keep my mouth shut for a second. But she handled it gracefully. Well, maybe “gracefully” isn’t the right term for it. She did talk with her mouth full a bit. But was that my fault? She didn’t interrupt much, and so she kept her mouth busy eating as I spoke. Also, I know she isn’t doing it intentionally, hell, I don’t think she even knows she’s doing it. But she is just so damned cute when she eats. It’s sexy even. It’s ten kinds of inappropriate, but I can’t help but imagine her naked as she eats. Well, I’d better work hard to make sure this goes well if I ever want a shot at seeing that for real. After we sat together for about half an hour I ran out of things to say, so I guess I’m not that much of a chatterbox after all, am I?
I wasn’t kidding before. I love watching people eat, and this is exactly why, it isn’t just a weird kink thing, it’s like Eve’s face just radiates joy. I almost feel like, if I can just keep her happy like this forever, then I would be just as glad. Eve must have noticed me staring, because she asked me “Is something on my face?” as she set down a half eaten piece of pizza. Wow, she must really like pizza to choose it out of all the stuff they have here. I said “No. I just can’t get over how beautiful you are.”
Eve blushed even more deeply and picked up her half eaten slice. After taking another bite she said “Thank you so much for saying that. I think I needed that. I feel like I just can’t stop gaining weight lately. I’m just hungry all the time,” which she displayed, taking another bite. I said “Honestly, if you’re afraid you don’t look good over that, well, let’s just say you could gain a lot more before I thought any less of you.” I meant to sound reassuring, but that just came off as creepy, didn’t it? She smirked and said “Yeah,” then sighed and said what I think was “Tell that to the mirror.” But it was too quiet to make out with certainty. I asked Eve what she meant and she said “Oh, nothing.” Before standing up and saying “Think I’m gonna grab some more pizza. I’ll skip a meal for it tomorrow to make up for it. Maybe two, the pizza here is just too good to ignore.” She then did as she’d said and went toward the food displays. I was pretty much done eating, but I feel like it’s a waste to stop eating early at a buffet. So I got up to grab a dessert.
While I was up I saw Eve getting some pizza. An employee laid down a fresh one where customers had eaten the old pizza. Eve watched like a kid at a candy store, watching them fill an empty display with candy. God she looked so happy. Maybe I skip dessert and try a slice of their pizza after all. So I walked up next to Eve and said “You know, I’m not normally a big fan of pizza, but you make this look so good that I’ve got to see what it’s like.” And put a slice onto my plate. Eve smiled and said “Oh? Pizza is my favorite food hands down. Hell, I even got a job at a pizzeria because of it. Totally not because a degree in communications is useless for practical income. No siree Bob. It’s because I just love pizza just that much.” With a sarcastic eye roll. I laughed a bit, normally I’m not that big a fan of that sort of humor. But it was funny coming from her.
In the end I didn’t like the pizza nearly as much as Eve did. I ended up giving her my slice after two bites. Is it strange that I’m actually glad things turned out that way? It meant I got to see that look of joy on her face again as she bit into another slice. That never gets old. I wish I could just bottle up the feeling of happiness from her when she eats. Well, I can’t, but I can always get her more pizza.
After we’d left I spent the entire drive home thinking about Eve. Then, as I got out of my car and began walking to my room, I mumbled to myself, “I’m obsessed, aren’t I?” as I got to the door of my room. I ended up falling asleep to the thought of Eve eating another slice of pizza. She was just so damned happy, I never wanted that look to stop. The date replayed in my mind all night through my dreams again and again. Only one thing varied. Her weight. In one dream she complained that she was over two hundred pounds, then two fifty, then three. The next time I awoke the sun had risen in my window. Well, time to get up. I honestly wished I could have kept dreaming just to see what the next fifty pounds of Eve looked like. But no, there is work to be done, and in a way that’s a good thing. It means I’ll have money to buy Eve some more pizza
