Chapter 1: Meet Cute
Susi scanned the room, a glass of champagne between her fingers. She wore an elegant emerald gown that clung to her petite, athletic frame, the color accentuating her tanned, olive skin.Surrounded by the city’s elite, her attention was fixed on one man.
Cam stood by the bar, his well tailored suit accentuating his tall, fit build. His dark hair and styled. His chiseled jaw and charismatic smile radiated confidence and power.
“Who’s that?” Susi asked her best friend Liv.
Liv, smirked. “That’s Cam Donovan. He just moved here from the Bay. My dad says he owns a military drone company or somthing. Sexy, right?”
“I’d kill for a man like that” Elle said.
Susi glancing pointedly at Elle’s softer midsection.
“Eat a salad for once, Elle. Then talk.”
Liv snorted with amusement. Elle ignored them both.
Cute but 30 lbs heavier than the other two, Elle was the sweet one of the group. She knew Susi could be such a bitch, but she had her back. They were ride-or-die’s.
Susi turned back to Cam. “He’s gorgeous, I want to meet him.”
Liv raised an eyebrow. “Good luck.”
Twenty-two, beautiful, with a body toned from college gymnastics, Susi was used to turning heads.
Despite this, she had no luck.
Cam, surrounded by business associates and admirers, never even glanced her way.
Unaccustomed to being overlooked, Susi left frustrated and a bit tipsy.
The next morning, Susi’s spirits lifted.
She spotted Cam at her gym.
Dressed in sleek black leggings and a crop top that showed off her toned stomach, Susi tried to catch his eye.
She stretched elegantly in front of him, flaunting her slim toned body, trying desperately to be noticed.
For a moment, she thought she caught his eye, but he never approached her.
A week later, fate intervened.
Leaving the gym, smoothie in hand, eyes on her phone, she collided with someone, spilling her drink.
“What the FUH…” she started angrily, then froze.
It was Cam.
He glanced down at the mess all over his shoes, then back up at her.
“Can I get you a new one?”
Caught off guard Susi stammered, “Sorry, I—um—no. I should’ve been paying attention… Sorry.”
“It’s okay.” Cam started to move on.
Realizing she was about to miss her chance Susi blurted out “can we get coffee?”
Cam looked at her surprised, but agreed.
Moment’s later, Susi texted Elle and Liv.
“I’ve got a date!”
