Chapter 5 - binge

Holly’s gym nights had always been Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, as well as the odd Saturday morning. However, Adam knew how to distract his girlfriend. Sometimes he would suggest that they watch a movie instead; whereas other evenings, he would get the handcuffs out and keep Holly strapped to the bed, enjoying all of the wonders his tongue had to offer. But no matter how it was done, the result was always the same: Holly was getting less and less gym time, whilst being consistently overindulged with more and more calories. There was only one way this could go.

“What the hell has happened to you?” cried Holly’s mother the next time she showed up unannounced one Sunday afternoon, whilst Holly and Adam were binge-watching a TV show together. She poked at her daughter’s meaty centre with disgust. “You’re getting fat!” she cried, immediately turning to Adam with a shade of accusation written across her furious face.

“I’ve just eaten a lot today,” Holly tried, pushing her mother’s prodding finger away and sucking her stomach back in.

“No, that’s not food,” the older woman ranted. “That’s fat,” she spouted, storming off to the kitchen area to look through the cupboards.

Adam heard the kitchen cupboard doors opening and closing and stood there rolling his eyes at the ridiculous situation; the woman nosily charging around the apartment. But, a few minutes later, the irate lady simply arrived back empty handed, just as Adam knew she would.

“You need to get back to your training!” she grumbled, pointing accusingly once again at Holly’s middle. “What if you were asked to play in a tennis tournament this weekend? They’d take one look at you and write you off! How are you supposed to get around a tennis court carrying that amount of unnecessary weight on you?" she shouted, making to poke Holly's stomach once more.

Holly recoiled, not allowing herself to be touched. “Mom, I’m not going to be invited to play in any big tournaments,” she sighed, the frustration in her voice clearly evident. “That part of my life is over! Now, not that it’s not nice to see you and everything, but Adam and I were in the middle of something here,” she stated through gritted teeth, pointing at their paused TV screen.

Adam couldn’t help but grin.
